Graduate

1.Entry requirements

To be admitted for study on the Master’s degree program, applicants must:be graduates of a public university, a private university recognized by the Taiwanese Ministry of Education or an independent college, hold an undergraduate degree or an equivalent diploma recognized under the regulations of the Taiwanese Ministry of Education, and pass the entrance exam of the Chung Yuan Christian University Master’s degree program.
If applicants wish to be interviewed to study on the master’s degree program, they must:be currently registered as students at a public university, a private university recognized by the Taiwanese Ministry of Education or an independent college, be able to graduate within the current year,submit the completed application form during the application period to Department of Academic Affairs,and comply with the regulations of the entrance interview examination.

2.Duration of postgraduate studies 

Students on the Master’s degree program must study for at least 1 year and graduate in less than 4 years after admission.

3.Study regulations

(1)Compulsory subjects of study include the “Seminar”, for which a minimum of 2 credits must be obtained, and a thesis, for which a minimum of 6 credits must be obtained. A total of 30 credits are required for graduation, as detailed below:students intending to graduate at the end of the first year of study must obtain 2 credits from the Seminar , 6 credits from their thesis, and 22 credits from elective courses,students intending to graduate at the end of the second year of study must obtain 4 credits from the Seminar , 6 credits from their thesis, and 20 credits from elective course.

(2)Students admitted to the program on a full-time basis may not take up part-time employment within the University or with any other employer (with the exception of taking part in a University research project).

(3)Students hold up employment and joining the program as part of continuing education, and students receiving part-time or full-time remuneration from other associations, may not apply for scholarship in accordance with University regulations. This limitation does not apply to financial rewards from taking part in a University research project.

(4)Students receiving a scholarship or a financial aid from the University must take up an assistantship arranged by the Department.

(5)Before graduation, students must take the course of Workshop on Presentation and Discussion.

(6)If students need to change academic advisor during the program of study for any reason, they must obtain approval from the original advisor and the Chairman of the Department.

(7)Students must meet all criteria for graduation before they may apply for examination for the degree of Master. This rule applies to newly admitted students who began their study on or after the academic year 1990.

4.Supervision of the thesis
After admission to the program, but before registration, students must find their thesis advisor and the advisor must take responsibility for their academic study and research. The advisor must be a full professor, an associate professor or an assistant professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Chung Yuan Christian University.

5.Oral examination of the thesis
Students must meet each of the criteria required by the University regulations and receive their advisor’s approval before they may request oral examination of their thesis.

6.Other related issues not described in this document must be dealt with accordingly to University regulations (see detailed examination regulations for postgraduate degrees).

7.The regulations described here apply following approval at the department affairs meeting, and the same approval process is applied to the revision of these regulations.
