Objectives

 

Education mission and objective: “community life aesthetics and healthy environment building

The combined education and research structure coordinates counseling, learning, and activities to foster an ambition to serve in the 21stcentury in students from each discipline, while promoting community aesthetics and living as an outstanding interior design specialist with professional convictions:

o     The Department, with respect to education conceptual development, has five special features: arts and living aesthetics; cultural education navigation; practical affairs and co-ops; healthy environment and community participation; and innovative character.

o     The character of the students educated in the Department consists of five aspects: life-master, designer, holistic person, cultural person and happy person.

o     The research of the Department is divided into five areas according to the developmental objectives and teacher’s expertise: landscape and art; innovative living and community environments; healthy environments and residential research; interior lighting and color; and cultural and theoretic design.

o     With respect to the curriculum, according to the characteristics, fields of study, and interior design specialization already mentioned, categories are further separated as: practical affairs study group; design study group; and humanities and arts study group. These are also separated between undergraduate and master’s curriculum. Furthermore, they are classified according to the core skills the student will be equipped with: basic design; communication and presentation; interior design; humanities and arts theory; practical affairs and technology; and interdisciplinary skills, for a total of six core skills.

 o     In addition to the required basic skills emphasized by the Department, hopes are that in the future students’ careers will concentrate a number of strong professional outlets; making design an elective with four main models, which are: healthy environment model; furniture design model; illumination design model; and design theory model –which will testify to the student’s employability.

o     In addition to general curriculum the department also has two courses of college level interdisciplinary curriculum and projects to sign a 3+2 master’s dual degree program agreement with Temple University, Pennsylvania.
