The international graduate program in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) was established in 2008 to recruit high-quality international students who will contribute diverse knowledge and valuable experience to the department. The program offers both Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees to train motivated students to be highly competent engineers or managers in their chosen fields or exemplary researchers in the academia. The students can choose their research work from an exhaustive list of specialization including management technology, production systems, quality management, operations research, information systems and human factors engineering. As of 2012, thirteen international students besides 250 local students have enrolled in the graduate program.
Established in 1964, the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is one of four departments in the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. All of the twenty-two full-time faculty members have received Ph.D. degrees. Additionally, Dr. Bruce Schmeiser , one of the world’s leading professors in simulation, is also on board as a chair professor.
