{"id":30842,"date":"2024-04-10T17:28:11","date_gmt":"2024-04-10T09:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/?p=30842"},"modified":"2024-04-24T17:29:08","modified_gmt":"2024-04-24T09:29:08","slug":"cycu-cultivates-tech-talents-among-the-elderly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/?p=30842","title":{"rendered":"CYCU Cultivates Tech Talents Among the Elderly."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>To prepare for a super-aged society, the Ministry of Education is promoting an &#8220;Interdisciplinary Talent Cultivation Program for the Precision Health Industry&#8221; that integrates elderly care and technology. In 2024, CYCU&#8217;s Department of Biomedical Engineering was once again selected as one of the seven national partner schools in the smart medical materials field. This program will integrate resources from Chungli Tien Sheng Hospital and Golden Age Day Care Center to co-develop courses that facilitate connections with the local medical industry chain and jointly cultivate talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taiwan transitioned to an aged society in 2018 and is projected to become a super-aged society by 2025 as the elderly population continues to increase. To meet the challenges of this demographic shift, the Executive Yuan has planned the &#8220;Taiwan 2030 Healthy Aging Vision&#8221; and the Ministry of Education has launched the &#8220;Interdisciplinary Talent Cultivation Program for the Precision Health Industry&#8221; focused on technologies for the elderly. After a review by experts and scholars, CYCU&#8217;s biomedical engineering department successfully passed the evaluation and secured NT$2 million in funding. Notably, it is the only private comprehensive university without a medical school among the seven schools implementing the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With over 50 years of cultivating biomedical engineering education, CYCU was honored to receive funding from the first phase of this program in 2022. Building upon the experience gained over the past two years, the university will now continue implementing the current phase of the program. This year&#8217;s initiative focuses on &#8220;technology for the elderly,&#8221; with plans to strengthen course offerings related to design and application of assistive devices for the elderly, innovative design thinking for elderly healthcare, and a series of courses centered around caring for the silver-haired population.
