This center held its first major event, the &#8220;Large Language Model Workshop&#8221; (LLM), on April 12. This was the first LLM Workshop jointly organized by the center and NVIDIA in Taiwan, marking an important milestone in the cultivation of AI talent in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her opening speech, Vice President Ying-Yi Hung of Chung Yuan Christian University noted that Chung Yuan is the fourth university in Taiwan to partner with NVIDIA as an AI University, following National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. The collaboration will focus on research, teaching, and industry-academia cooperation. Chung Yuan Christian University will utilize NVIDIA&#8217;s latest AI technology and information to enhance its AI teaching and research capabilities. This workshop was the first major large language model event in Taiwan this year, with a total of 20 teachers and 57 graduate students participating, including 10 international students. The NVIDIA architects emphasized the acceleration provided by retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology. Additionally, they introduced NVIDIA NeMo, a platform for end-to-end building of customized LLMs. Compared to the traditional approach of training a model from scratch, which takes weeks or months, NeMo LLMs can help develop custom models in just a few minutes to a few hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NVIDIA Solution Architects explained the generative large language models and retrieval-augmented generation technology in a clear and understandable manner, helping Chung Yuan faculty and students gain a deeper understanding of these concepts. They demonstrated how combining these cutting-edge technologies can bypass the complex training process to produce more accurate and rich responses.
