To equip students with the skills to tackle these challenges, Chung Yuan Christian University hosted the 2024 Second Annual &#8220;Future Problem-Solving Competition,&#8221; emphasizing holistic education by combining learning with practical application to enhance students&#8217; core competencies. The competition, designed by industry experts, focused on areas such as &#8220;Data Science Analysis,&#8221; &#8220;Quantitative Inference,&#8221; &#8220;Social Reflection,&#8221; &#8220;Ethical Reasoning,&#8221; &#8220;Aesthetic Interpretation,&#8221; &#8220;Creative Innovation,&#8221; and &#8220;Effective Communication,&#8221; aiming to cultivate lifelong learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The competition attracted 55 teams from 14 universities across the country. After five months of fierce competition, 14 teams were selected by a panel of five judges to advance to the finals. The finals were held on September 25, with Dean of Academic Affairs Pi Shih-Ming delivering the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration and encouraging participants to continually improve themselves as they face future challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u5927\u5408\u7167_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32677\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u5927\u5408\u7167_2.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u5927\u5408\u7167_2-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The competition&#8217;s judging panel consisted of industry and academic experts, including Wu Hongbin, Senior Training Manager at NVIDIA Singapore, Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. General Manager Meng Xianming, Corning Display Glass Taiwan Deputy Manager Lu Youhua, Taipei Medical University Cross-disciplinary Learning Center Director Wang Mingxu, and Chung Yuan Christian University Leap Horse Foundation Chairman Liu Jianxin. They unanimously agreed that the competition topics not only effectively simulated future challenges but also inspired students&#8217; creative thinking, teamwork, and practical problem-solving skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, the &#8220;Carbon Carbon&#8221; team, composed of CYCU Information Management students Zeng Weiting, Li Congyuan, and Wang Minquan, won the championship and a NT$50,000 scholarship. They developed a serious game using generative AI technology, specifically designed for new drivers aged 18 to 24, to enhance road safety awareness and reduce traffic accident risks. The game integrates driving test question banks and real-life scenarios, utilizing VR technology to improve immersive experiences, showcasing potential for promoting safe driving and innovative insurance solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u51a0\u8ecd_\u78b3\u78b3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32678\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u51a0\u8ecd_\u78b3\u78b3.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u51a0\u8ecd_\u78b3\u78b3-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, another team from the Information Management department utilized generative AI to predict traffic violations and generate personalized tests, further enhancing drivers&#8217; safety awareness and promoting a pedestrian-first approach to road usage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u4f73\u4f5c_\u6211\u627e\u4e0d\u5230\u7bc0\u594f.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32679\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u4f73\u4f5c_\u6211\u627e\u4e0d\u5230\u7bc0\u594f.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u4f73\u4f5c_\u6211\u627e\u4e0d\u5230\u7bc0\u594f-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the &#8220;Silver Step&#8221; team from Chung Yuan Christian University introduced the e-walk device, which integrates Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and Electromyography (EMG) technologies to assist the elderly and individuals with mobility issues in improving their walking abilities. This device is equipped with an intelligent monitoring system that provides real-time electrical stimulation to aid in walking and features fall detection and GPS tracking, offering users greater autonomy and enhanced safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u5b63\u8ecd_\u6b65\u6b65\u70ba\u9280.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32680\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u5b63\u8ecd_\u6b65\u6b65\u70ba\u9280.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/eng.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/\u5b63\u8ecd_\u6b65\u6b65\u70ba\u9280-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the Industrial Engineering team introduced a multifunctional walking aid based on AIOT technology. This product features a fall-prevention airbag, adjustable height, and health monitoring capabilities, aimed at improving the quality of life and walking safety for the elderly. Wu Hongbin, Senior Training Manager at NVIDIA, encouraged students to focus on issues they are passionate about, leveraging their existing knowledge and generative AI technology to develop concrete solutions.
