With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, higher education is undergoing an unprecedented transformation. Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) has long been committed to addressing the impact of AI on education by integrating resources and strengthening faculty training to comprehensively enhance the AI teaching and learning environment. According to the university’s newly released AI Teaching and Learning Accountability Report, a total of 504 courses incorporating AI content were offered in the 2023 academic year, demonstrating the deep integration of AI education within CYCU\u2019s academic system and a comprehensive shift in learning models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\u70ba\u6df1\u5316AI\u6559\u80b2\uff0c\u4e2d\u539f\u5927\u5b78\u63d0\u4f9b\u5b78\u5b50\u512a\u8cea\u7684\u5b78\u7fd2\u74b0\u5883\u3002(\u5716\u70ba\u751f\u79d1\u7cfbAI\u5b78\u7fd2\u7a7a\u9593)\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

CYCU President Dr. Ying-Ming Li emphasized that AI is a key technology for the future development of society and industry. Education must evolve accordingly to nurture talent that meets the demands of the era. By publishing the AI Teaching and Learning Accountability Report annually, CYCU not only refines its AI education strategies but also documents how innovative technology supports the university\u2019s core value of holistic education\u2014empowering students with stronger competitiveness in the AI era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Shih-Ming Pi further explained that since the 2021 academic year, CYCU has made foundational AI programming a required course for all freshmen, thereby fully implementing basic AI education. In addition, the university has actively developed interdisciplinary AI professional courses across colleges, including Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Engineering, Business, and Smart Computing, fostering the integration of AI with various disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Departments across CYCU have launched AI-focused courses, combining classroom instruction with hands-on training to encourage students to apply AI in diverse research projects. For instance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Chun-Huan Wang from the Department of Civil Engineering teaches Big Data and AI for Disaster Prevention, guiding students to use AI for disaster data analysis and risk management, helping them develop AI models through practical projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Mei-Ju Su from the Department of Biomedical Engineering offers a course on AI in Medicine, equipping students with skills in medical imaging and smart healthcare applications\u2014from data processing to model implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Yung-Chuan Wen from the Department of Business Administration teaches AI Aesthetics and SDG Applications, exploring the creative potential of AI in sustainability, taught entirely in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the College of Design, Dr. Shih-Han Yang offers Picture Book Design, integrating AI-generated imagery with indigenous storytelling to help students express cultural narratives through technology\u2014an innovative application of AI in indigenous community life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These courses not only enhance students\u2019 practical skills but also strengthen their ability to meet future technological challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To improve faculty competency in AI instruction, CYCU regularly organizes AI teaching workshops to equip educators with the latest AI tools and applications. The university has also established several interdisciplinary research centers, such as the Human-Centered AI Center, Intelligent Manufacturing R&D Center, and the IoT & Smart Cloud Center, offering robust resources to support AI research, development, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To deepen ties between AI education and industry, CYCU has strengthened its industry-academia partnerships and became the first private university in Taiwan to join NVIDIA\u2019s AI University Program, promoting advanced AI applications and research. Three faculty members have earned NVIDIA DLI (Deep Learning Institute) certification, further enhancing the quality of AI instruction and hands-on training, enabling students to gain deeper insights into AI technology and industry trends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CYCU has also launched the C-learning Open Educational Platform, offering AI-related courses for self-directed online learning and enabling global sharing of educational resources. In terms of student performance, the Department of Information Management has won first place for seven consecutive years in the Industry-Academia Collaboration Division of the National College IT Service Innovation Competition, showcasing the university\u2019s outstanding achievements in AI talent cultivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
