In an era of rapid advances in AI and technology education, the Department of Applied Chinese Language and Literature at Chung Yuan Christian University is committed to innovating through the integration of language education and cross-disciplinary technology. From August 5\u20137, 2025, the department partnered with Neili Senior High School to host a three-day campus tour, \u201cLearning Languages, Walking the World: Academic and Career Exploration Starting from Chinese,\u201d<\/em> attracting over 250 students and receiving enthusiastic feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by Department Chair Prof. Yu-Fen Liu, the faculty team introduced the program, shared overseas internship experiences, conducted teaching simulations, and showcased AI applications\u2014broadening students\u2019 understanding of language studies and expanding their career horizons. Beyond program and career introductions, the event focused on two themes: \u201cThe Advantages of Humanities Students\u201d and \u201cHow AI Can Transform Language Education.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interactive sessions such as \u201cBe the Teacher\u201d invited students to design lesson plans and present Taiwanese culture, strengthening their language logic and communication skills through hands-on practice. Many participants expressed surprise and excitement at the possibilities of language studies beyond teaching, the creative fusion of language and AI, and the opportunities in overseas internships and online Chinese teaching\u2014demonstrating the program\u2019s success in sparking curiosity and inspiring future academic choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launching this October, CYCU\u2019s MetaDisplay Immersive Learning Space<\/em> integrates projection technology, AI-generated content, and multimodal interaction. Featuring holographic imaging, AI-assisted Chinese teaching materials, and RPG-style language games, it is already applied in core courses of the Department of Applied Chinese Language and Literature, connecting with internships and online teaching platforms. The space helps students master language teaching fundamentals while building digital literacy and cultural creativity, preparing them with language, technology, and cross-disciplinary skills for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MetaDisplay Immersive Learning Space<\/em> will also host the \u201cMasters of Contemporary Literature: Xiang Yang & Lu Hanxiu Concert and Exhibition\u201d<\/em> on October 23, blending poetry, music, and visual arts to create a deep dialogue between culture and technology. The College of Humanities and Education notes that the goal is not only to explore \u201chow AI enters education,\u201d but also \u201chow the humanities can guide AI toward a meaningful future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dean Penise Peng emphasized, \u201cAs AI becomes part of education, we must consider how technology can make humanistic values visible and actionable.\u201d The recent collaboration with Neili Senior High School deepened students\u2019 understanding of language studies while showcasing the Department of Applied Chinese Language and Literature\u2019s strengths in teaching, technology, and culture. Department Chair Prof. Yu-Fen Liu added, \u201cWe hope students see language not just as a communication tool, but as a key to the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
