<\/figure>\n\n\n\nProfessor Kang-Ping Lin, Distinguished Chair Professor at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), has officially assumed the presidency of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE), becoming the first scholar from Taiwan to hold this distinguished position. A leading global expert in biomedical engineering, Lin has long been devoted to international academic collaboration and medical device innovation, driving progress in science and healthcare technology worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his inaugural address, Professor Lin quoted The Great Learning to emphasize the true essence of education and the importance of public engagement. He called upon global partners to \u201cwork together for the advancement of IFMBE,\u201d committing his presidency to advancing science, education, and international cooperation, with the vision of leaving a lasting impact on the global biomedical engineering community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Professor Lin earned his bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees at CYCU, later obtaining a Ph.D. in Biomedical Physics from UCLA before returning to his alma mater to teach. His remarkable accomplishments have been recognized internationally with honors such as the Antonio Hernandez International Clinical Engineering Award from the American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE) and an Honorary Doctorate from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Medical and Biological Engineering and Health and Technology, underscoring his international influence and leadership in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CYCU\u2019s groundbreaking initiative on \u201cAI Applications in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)\u201d was also a major highlight at the World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering 2025 (WC2025). Professor Lin\u2019s team, in collaboration with NVIDIA, presented their pioneering project titled \u201cDevelopment of a Large Language Model (LLM) for Assisting Clinical Scientific Diagnosis and Treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine.\u201d The team hosted a Special Symposium to share their research with the global academic community, marking a significant milestone in AI-driven TCM innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, the CYCU Translational Center for Medical Device and Technology showcased its achievements in smart healthcare and international collaboration during WC2025. Two members of the team received prestigious fellowships \u2014 Dr. Shao-Hung L\u00fc, recipient of the IFMBE Early Career Researcher Travel Fellowship, and Ms. Shih-Yi Wu, recipient of the IFMBE Student Travel Fellowship. With 76 member countries and over 150,000 members worldwide, these honors reflect the exceptional academic quality, innovation, and global recognition of CYCU\u2019s research team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition, a team from CYCU\u2019s Translational Center for Medical Device and Technology, composed of Dr. Shao-Hung L\u00fc, Ms. Shih-Yi Wu, and Ms. Mei-Fen Chen, recently participated in the IUPESM 2025 Scientific Challenge, where they earned an Honorable Mention among 22 international teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This competition, organized by the IFMBE Digital Health Division under the federation, is a significant global academic contest. The team\u2019s achievement once again highlights Chung Yuan Christian University\u2019s strong integration of academic excellence and practical innovation in education and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n CYCU stated that the appointment of Distinguished Chair Professor Kang-Ping Lin as President of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) not only represents high recognition of his academic excellence and international contributions, but also signifies global acknowledgment of the achievements cultivated by CYCU\u2019s research teams over many years.
