Among them, Information Management students Jin-Hao Liang, Kai-Syun Yu, and Pin-Yu Lu developed the \u201cIntelligent AI-Assisted Dental System,\u201d which integrates AI and automation technologies to perform real-time X-ray image analysis and lesion marking, streamlining the diagnosis and treatment process to enhance clinical decision-making efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The system also incorporates a large language model\u2013powered intelligent consultation interface, improving communication between dentists and patients and advancing smart, human-centered dental care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The \u201cOralEye\u201d and \u201cAI-DentPath\u201d systems developed by CYCU\u2019s Department of Electronic Engineering integrate deep learning and image recognition technologies to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of dental clinical diagnostics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOralEye\u201d features low-cost and high-precision advantages, making it suitable for both clinical practices and remote healthcare applications. Meanwhile, \u201cAI-DentPath\u201d focuses on implant planning, automatically generating optimal implant paths, precisely locating implant threads, and quantifying inflammation levels to support advanced AI-driven dental treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Professor Shih-Lun Chen noted that all the award-winning projects were developed in collaboration with Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taoyuan, where clinical validation was successfully completed\u2014demonstrating the practical effectiveness of AI technologies in supporting dental diagnosis and treatment. He emphasized that the research not only integrates academic innovation and clinical application, embodying the spirit of interdisciplinary collaboration, but also lays a solid foundation for the advancement of smart healthcare, showcasing CYCU\u2019s strong commitment to AI-driven medical innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Students from the Department of Electronic Engineering shared that the competition experience helped them realize that the core of dental AI development lies in \u201cextracting key features from medical images.\u201d Despite the challenges encountered while designing the DAFNet architecture and TPD Loss function, their perseverance led to a significant improvement in model accuracy. They expressed deep gratitude to Professor Chen and distinguished alumnus Yuan-Chin Lin for their expert guidance, which enabled the team to focus on research and turn their innovative ideas into tangible achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition, a team supervised by Professor Kuo-Cheng Lee from the Department of Information Management developed \u201cFlowin\u2019 \u2013 Digital Mindflow Assistant,\u201d which integrates AI and wearable technology. By analyzing heart rate variability (HRV) and applying machine learning, the system identifies users\u2019 stress and peak efficiency periods, providing personalized recommendations to enhance focus, mindfulness, and productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another team, guided by Professor Hsiu-Li Liao, created \u201cWeMedLink \u2013 Airport Medical Reporting System.\u201d Built with Flutter and SQLite, the system offers a cross-platform, offline-capable, and bilingual (Chinese\u2013English) interface that automates medical reporting processes and enables real-time information updates, greatly improving emergency response efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, a team supervised by Professor Hsiao-Wei Hu from the College of Intelligent Computing and Quantum Information developed a low-cost, high-efficiency AI recognition system that integrates consumer-grade detector technology to significantly improve the accuracy and efficiency of waste toy recycling and sorting. This project embodies CYCU\u2019s core commitment to promoting a circular economy and sustainable development through the power of intelligent technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n CYCU stated that its long-term leadership in professional education and innovative practice stems from its commitment to the principles of \u201cintegration of learning and application\u201d and holistic education.
