<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe training program was led by Professor Chih-Yu Chen of CYCU’s Bachelor’s Program in Intelligent Computing and Big Data, Professor Tsung-Wei Huang of the Master’s Program in Intelligent Computing and Big Data, and Cheng-Wei Su, Research Assistant at the Center for Quantum Information. Participants learned how to formulate energy optimization problems by incorporating system costs, demand forecasts, and operational constraints into computational models before translating them into mathematical forms suitable for quantum algorithms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The curriculum covered simulated annealing, digital annealing, and quantum-inspired optimization methods, enabling participants to compare the strengths and limitations of different approaches for solving energy optimization challenges. Faculty members also gained hands-on experience with the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA), using tools such as Python, IBM Qiskit, and NVIDIA CUDA-Q to convert QUBO models into quantum circuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, the program introduced quantum machine learning techniques, including quantum regression and classification. Participants applied historical load data to forecast future energy demand and evaluated the performance of quantum-enhanced models against conventional machine learning methods in terms of computational efficiency, energy costs, and constraint satisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CYCU noted that the program integrated quantum algorithms, artificial intelligence, and smart energy applications through a combination of lectures and practical training, equipping international faculty with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in quantum computing. The Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) Center for Quantum Information hosted the 2026 Training Program on Quantum Computing and its Advanced Applications from July 27 to 30, welcoming five faculty members from the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) for a four-day training program. Through lectures, hands-on programming, and model development, participants explored applications of quantum computing, quantum machine learning, and intelligent energy systems, strengthening both practical expertise and international collaboration in quantum education.
