College of Business

The College of Business was established in 1967, with successive programs being founded, including the Department of Business Administration, the Department of International Business and Trade, the Department of Accounting, the Department of Information Management, the Department of Finance, and the Ph.D. Program in Business Administration. To advance its internationalization, the school progressively established the International Business Bachelor’s Degree Program, the International Business Master’s Degree Program, and the Dual Bachelor’s Degree Program between Chung Yuan Christian University and Temple University in the USA. The school also obtained AACSB accreditation, continuing to improve in various aspects, including faculty, curriculum, teaching, and research, with the aim of achieving international recognition.

Established in 1967, the Department of Business Administration at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) established its Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in 1983, Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program in 1999, and PhD program in 2005, contributing significantly to the nurturing of talents. With nearly 1,200 students annually enrolled across undergraduate and graduate programs, the department adheres to CYCU’s philosophy of “holistic education.” It emphasizes a balance between professionalism and general education, academic knowledge and character development, individual and collective development, as well as physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Through a curriculum blending theory and practice, along with international academic exchanges, the department aims to cultivate students into “comprehensive managers” possessing professional acumen, social responsibility, and ethical integrity. In recent years, in response to the international trend of sustainable professional development, the department has adopted a training strategy that integrates interdisciplinary learning and aligns with corporate practices, striving to foster talents in sustainable management for businesses.

The department was founded in 1976; the second established department in the College of Business which passed AACSB International accreditation in 2015 and 2021. Numerous graduates contribute their talents to different sectors. 

Students have many exchange opportunities. Also, they can meet classmates from different countries because about 20% of the students from overseas are in the department.

Professional Courses are divided into:  International Economics and Trade Practice, Econometrics and Forecast, International Finance, International Business and Management, depending on the interests and future career planning to elective courses.

Career prospects: Customs Declarer, International Trade Specialist, Logistics Specialist, Financial Officer, Purchasing Specialist, Financial Analyst, Industrial Analyst, Financial consultants, Marketing Specialist, Economic Planning and Development Administrator.

Accounting personnel are the backbone of enterprise management key players, the notary public’s economic development, but also a participant in government taxation, and is closely related to the economic development of the country. With the rapid development of economy and technology, the demand for qualified accounting professionals are increasingly strong. Therefore, the purpose of the establishment of the system that is in first-class training for our accounting professionals to meet the need of China’s economic development.

The Department of Information Management at Chung Yuan Christian University was founded in the year 1987 by Dr. Chang Kuang-Cheng, the former president of the university, who also served as its inaugural department head. In 1988, Dr. Shao Kung-Ping succeeded as the second department head. During his six-year tenure, he actively promoted the implementation of the graduation project system, laying a solid foundation for the department’s emphasis on both practical and theoretical aspects.

Since its establishment, the Department of Information Management has witnessed significant development thanks to the concerted efforts of faculty, staff, and successive department heads. Through the dedication of professional faculty in teaching and research, the department has served students at all levels in their professional and personal growth. The active involvement of students in various learning, service, and academic activities has been fundamental to the continuous growth and development of the department.

Currently, the undergraduate program of the Department of Information Management admits 97 students annually, while the master’s program admits 27 students, and the Executive Master’s program admits 14 students.

In 2005, our university established the Department of Finance in response to the global demand for financial talent. The department’s mission is to cultivate professionals in finance with both talent and integrity. With a strong team of professional faculty and abundant resources, the Department of Finance at Chung Yuan Christian University has laid a solid foundation. 

The department holds an annual inter-school “investment simulation competition” to cultivate students’ correct investment and financial management concepts, thereby enhancing the professional quality of domestic financial talents. By dedicating efforts to academic and industry cooperation projects, we aim to assist in solving the difficulties of domestic and foreign financial institutions and help society achieve the vision of sustainable finance.

In 2011, the department was approved to transition from a single-class program to offering two classes, continuing and inheriting the department’s concept of cultivating “Finance Guardians” with both talent and integrity.

In 2015, the department was approved to establish a graduate institute of finance, beginning to enroll master’s students and cultivating more knowledgeable and competent professionals in the field of finance.

“Using the three-in-one teaching strategy: “business management, multicultural and cross-domain learning”, we focus on developing student’s multi-abilities of “characters”,” teamwork”, and “creativities” in different fields. In responding the global megatrend for having the U-shaped talented person in the company at home and abroad, we take our shared beliefs, holistic education, as our guide to cultivate “Cross-domain” multifunctional graduate students. This program emphasis in “cross-domain learning”, the program is designed into 5 professional domains: business administration, international business, accounting, information management, and finance. 14 items of credit base program: marketing management, technology management, service industry management, international business and practices, econometric forecasting, international finance and management, financial accounting, auditing, cost and management accounting, business intelligence, e-commerce, information system development, company finance management, financial product, and financial market…etc. In order to develop the cross-domain business professional, students in this program are required to enroll at least 2 professional domains (three items of professional program courses) “

The Ph.D. Program in Business combines teaching and research resources from four departments — International Business, Accounting, Information Management, and Finance in the College of Business. Meanwhile, teaching lectures integrate the trend of global industrial development into Case Studies. This program expects to broaden students’ international horizons.

The PhD. Program in Business recruits international students all over the world, which brings the diversity of viewpoints in the courses, and provides multi-cultural experience in studying. 

The PhD. Program in Business offers required/elective courses in English. By taking this approach, international students can learn the knowledge and expertise without language barriers, and local students can enhance their English language ability.

The International Undergraduate Program In Business And Management (IUBM) Is Part Of The Academic Offerings Of The College Of Business (COB), Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU). The Program Is One Of The Three All-English International Programs In The COB, And Is The Younger Sibling Of The International Master Of Business Administration (IMBA Program) Program, And The Doctor Of Philosophy In Business (PhD In Business Program). The COB Was Accredited By The Association To Advance Collegiate Schools Of Business (AACSB) In 2015 And Is Among The Top 5% Out Of The 16,000 Business Schools In The World. The IUBM Program Is Supported By The COB’s 90 Full-Time Faculty Members, 98% Of Which Have Doctoral Degrees.


The curriculums’ design of IMBA Program covers the necessary basic and advanced courses required by international business studies such as International Trade and Policy, Financial Management, Management Foundation and Research Methods, and is linked to the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” of United Nations (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs), focusing on SDGs4 “Quality Education”, SDGs8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth” and SDGs17 “Partnerships for The Goals”. Cultivate students’ ability to integrate across fields, attach importance to the sustainable development of the environment and ethics, recognize and respect multiple values and fulfill their social responsibilities as global citizens.

The Master Program in Commercial Applications of Big Data was established in the 2018. Its courses combine professional teachers and academic resources of each department of the College of Business, and cooperates with teachers from the industry to cultivate cross-field massive data analysis talents. . This program mainly recruits two types of students to provide advanced training, namely students who have a degree in business and students with information technology background. The goal is to cultivating more talents in Commercial Application and Big Data which will contribute to the development of Taiwan’s industry in the field.

Established in 1967, the Department of Business Administration at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) established its Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in 1983, Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program in 1999, and PhD program in 2005, contributing significantly to the nurturing of talents.

In-Service Master Program has three groups: Senior Manager Group, Professional Manager Group and Leadership, Innovation and Liberal Arts Group.

The former three groups emphasize the curriculum of combining innovation and practice, aiming to develop students who can apply their knowledge to work and life. The latter group emphasizes “Leadership, Innovation, Liberal arts”. With the goal of cultivating a leader who possess macro-leadership and cultural literacy.

This program was ranked among the top ten most popular EMBA programs in the country by Cheers Magazine. The program was established in 2017, with the cooperate between Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) and Temple University (USA). This 2+2 program allows students to improve English through  all English teaching business professional courses in their first two years in CYCU than studdy abroad in Temple University. Students are able to complete the degree in four years, and obtaining bachelor’s degrees from two universities at once.

For the 2+2 dual bachelor’s degree program, students study the basic and advanced courses at CYCU in their first two years, and study at Temple University from the third year to graduation. The business colleges at CYCU and TU have been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), which ensures that the standards of business education continue to improve and that the international visibility of the business programs is highly enhanced. The courses of the two colleges are closely linked, focusing on the education of character, entrepreneurship, and internationalization.
