Chung Yuan Christian University’s Indigenous Bachelor’s Program in Design is integrating field-based learning in Fuxing District, Taoyuan into its curriculum. Through four courses, students explore traditional Atayal houses, timber and bamboo construction, and local material practices, gaining a deeper understanding of Indigenous architecture, craftsmanship, and culture. The initiative strengthens the connection between design education and the lived experiences of land, community, and cultural heritage.

CYCU hosted an international aerosol research exchange on September 15, bringing together scholars from nine Asian countries to discuss PM2.5 exposure, air pollution, environmental health, and sustainability. The event featured regional research sharing and a keynote by Dr. Maria Obiminda L. Cambaliza of Ateneo de Manila University on personal PM2.5 exposure in Metro Manila, strengthening cross-border collaboration in air quality and environmental research.

CYCU is advancing the commercialization of academic research through its spin-off Moldintel Co., Ltd., developed from the university’s Smart Manufacturing R&D Center. At TaipeiPLAS 2026, Moldintel unveiled its next-generation Moldinteller AI smart controller. The company has secured customer orders totaling NT$7 million and signed a business cooperation agreement with Chuan Lih Fa Machinery Works Co., Ltd., demonstrating CYCU’s efforts to translate research innovation into market-ready smart manufacturing solutions.

CYCU held its second AI Teaching and Learning Benchmark Course Practice and Showcase Competition on September 10–11, highlighting innovative uses of AI in statistics, problem-solving, English speaking, and course assessment. Through real-time feedback, adaptive learning, and interactive applications, faculty and students demonstrated how AI can support critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-directed learning, advancing CYCU’s vision for more innovative and student-centered education.

CYCU and KU Leuven jointly hosted the 2026 CYCU–Leuven Joint International Workshop: Advancing from Semiconductors to Neural Probes on September 7–8. The event brought together experts from KU Leuven, UCLouvain, Europe’s neurotechnology sector, and Taiwan’s academia, industry, government, and research institutions to explore advances in neural probes, brain–computer interfaces, neuromodulation, semiconductor processing, and artificial intelligence, strengthening interdisciplinary research and international collaboration between semiconductor technology and brain science.

CYCU further strengthened academic ties between Taiwan and the Philippines through a five-day exchange program from August 31 to September 4, 2026. More than 20 faculty members and students participated in the inaugural UST–CYCU Joint Forum, university visits, alumni engagement, and meetings with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines. A key highlight was CYCU’s participation in the inauguration of the Research Center for Engineering and Technological Sciences (RCETS) at the University of Santo Tomas, where two CYCU faculty members were appointed to the center’s International Advisory Board, laying a stronger foundation for future joint research, talent exchange, and international collaboration.

Chung Yuan Christian University’s Department of Information Management marked the tenth year of its international service program in Khon Kaen, Thailand, with a two-week initiative focused on digital education and cultural exchange. The “Thai-Kong-Man-You” International Volunteer Team introduced local students to AI, VR, programming, and other digital tools through hands-on learning activities. Building on a decade of collaboration with local partners, the program reflects CYCU’s commitment to service-learning, cross-cultural engagement, digital literacy, and holistic education.

Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) received the Bronze Award in the SDG 13: Climate Action category at the 2026 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards (APSAA) for its AWARE climate-health project in Indonesia. Since 2023, the project has promoted climate-health education and early warning initiatives in East Java through international and community partnerships. By integrating education, AI-assisted data analysis, and cross-sector collaboration, AWARE has reached more than 700 participants and strengthened local awareness and resilience to climate-related health risks.

Two Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) students were recognized in the 2026 National College and University Career Guidance Student Reflection Competition organized by the Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education. Lung I-Hsing Kao-Nan of Electronic Engineering won second place, while Lin Yen-Chang of Mechanical Engineering received an Honorable Mention. Both serve as CYCU Indigenous Career Ambassadors, reflecting the University’s commitment to supporting Indigenous students through career exploration, cultural identity, practical experience, and professional development.

Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) hosted the ACUCA Student Camp 2026 from August 17 to 21 in celebration of the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia’s 50th anniversary. The five-day program brought together 58 students and one faculty member from nine countries and regions across Asia. Centered on the theme “Communities for the Good,” the camp featured keynote talks, multinational workshops, cultural exchange, worship, and local cultural experiences, encouraging participants to explore global issues, intercultural understanding, social engagement, and the common good.

CYCU hosted its 2026 International Summer Program on Project Design and Practice from July 31 to August 20, bringing together more than 90 faculty members and students from Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, the United States, and Belgium. For the first time, KU Leuven and Northern Arizona University joined the program, expanding CYCU’s international partnerships to Europe and North America. Through English-taught courses, laboratory practice, team projects, and competitions in AI, smart computing, electronics, and marine energy, participants strengthened their technical skills while gaining valuable cross-cultural learning and international collaboration experience.

Chung Yuan Christian University’s Department of Interior Design has upgraded its woodworking workshop with a large-scale four-process CNC cutting machine donated by alumnus Chih-Kang Fu of Lu Feng Interior Decoration Engineering Co., Ltd. Installed on August 13, 2026, the new equipment strengthens hands-on woodworking and digital fabrication education, enabling students to integrate design, digital modeling, material processing, and physical production in a more comprehensive learning environment.
