The NSTC 2025 Outstanding Research Award recognized 80 scholars nationwide, including Professor Wei-Ren Liu of Chung Yuan Christian University for his contributions to energy materials research. He is the only award recipient from a private university this year outside institutions with medical school affiliations.

Professor Hsin-Hsin Kao of Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) has been elected President of the 47th Mathematical Society of the Republic of China, becoming the first CYCU faculty member to hold the position. She plans to promote academic exchange, mathematics education, and interdisciplinary collaboration while encouraging more girls in STEM to pursue science and making mathematics more accessible to the public.

CYCU has partnered with the Fox School of Business at Temple University (USA) since 2017 to offer the CYCU–Temple 2+2 Dual Bachelor’s Degree Program, enabling students to earn bachelor’s degrees from both universities within four years. Now in its eighth year, the program has produced three cohorts of graduates with outstanding achievements in further study and career development.

CYCU received multiple gold, silver, and bronze awards at the Ministry of Education’s Digital Humanities Achievement Showcase, recognizing its strong performance in interdisciplinary digital humanities education. A student project on mapping Taoyuan military dependents’ villages using GIS tools won the Interdisciplinary Gold Award, highlighting CYCU’s success in integrating technology, humanities, and local social engagement.

CYCU has launched the “MetaDisplay Classroom,” integrating immersive projection and human–computer interaction to create a smart, interdisciplinary learning environment. By transforming Du Fu’s “Spring View” into an immersive experience for international learners, the initiative demonstrates a human-centered approach to AI in education, uniting the humanities with digital technology.

Research from Chung Yuan Christian University’s Quantum Information Center has been published in npj Unconventional Computing, a journal under the Nature Portfolio, marking a significant milestone in quantum finance. Led by Assistant Professor Yen-Jui Chang, the international team developed an innovative “Smart 1/N” portfolio optimization strategy that integrates quantum-inspired algorithms with financial modeling to enhance risk diversification, return performance, and trading efficiency. Conducted in collaboration with Imperial College London and supported by NVIDIA’s high-performance computing resources, the study highlights the growing potential of quantum-inspired computing in FinTech and big data–driven investment decision-making, demonstrating CYCU’s expanding global research impact.

CYCU has launched a Bachelor’s Program in the Semiconductor Industry, welcoming its first cohort in the 2026 academic year. The program emphasizes an industry-driven, cross-disciplinary, and practice-oriented curriculum, integrating engineering strengths and industry resources to cultivate semiconductor professionals with strong technical foundations and industry readiness, in response to Taiwan’s semiconductor supply-chain development and global competition.

CYCU strengthens industry–academia collaboration by partnering with MSI to cultivate technology talent. Through real-world engineering projects in areas such as laptop antenna electromagnetic interference, student research not only contributes to product development but is also presented at an IEEE international conference, showcasing CYCU’s strong integration of education, research, and industry practice.

CYCU was commended by Premier Cho Jung-tai for its active participation in post-disaster recovery efforts, alongside 30 universities nationwide. CYCU faculty and students were recognized for supporting recovery initiatives in the Mataian area, demonstrating the university’s commitment to University Social Responsibility and holistic education.

CYCU College of Design continues to strengthen its international dual-degree collaboration with Oxford Brookes University (OBU), focusing on the Sustainable Urban Design & Planning (SUDP) program and the cultivation of globally competitive, sustainability-oriented design talent. In late December 2025, OBU’s Head of Urban Design Professor Laura Novo De Azevedo visited Taiwan to engage in academic exchange, curriculum discussion, and cooperation planning. The visit also included participation in the 2025 CYCU Christmas Walking Festival, highlighting CYCU’s commitment to people-centered public space practice.

CYCU achieved outstanding results in Taoyuan City Government’s “Research for Taoyuan” Student Innovation and Research Competition, standing out as the school with the most awards. With interdisciplinary proposals addressing traffic safety, sustainability, smart energy, environmental regeneration, and elderly care, CYCU students showcased strong innovation and practical research capabilities, contributing solutions to real urban challenges.

On January 8, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) Department of Applied Chinese Language and Literature hosted its annual Graduation Project Competition, featuring 10 teams and over 40 senior students. The projects showcased students’ strengths in Mandarin teaching, cultural adaptation, and digital applications, highlighting both practical competence and market potential, and reflecting CYCU’s emphasis on learning-by-doing and whole-person education.
