According to the latest ScholarGPS report, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) ranks 460th in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 722nd in Engineering and Computer Science, and 1,241st overall. Additionally, multiple CYCU professors are among the top 0.5% of scholars worldwide, highlighting the university’s global academic impact.
The 17th Topco Thesis Award attracted 1,023 theses from 73 universities worldwide, covering fields like business, AI, and sustainability. Chung Yuan Christian University students excelled in this prestigious competition, highlighting their outstanding research and innovation.
The 2025 Annual Meeting of the Polymer Society of the Republic of China, Taiwan's premier polymer science event, took place on January 15. Chung Yuan Christian University's Professor Chang Yong made history by receiving the 2024 "Outstanding Polymer Application Award," becoming the nation's only scholar to win all three major Polymer Society awards, highlighting his exceptional contributions to polymer science and technology.
To meet industry demand for practical semiconductor talent, Chung Yuan Christian University inaugurated the "Semiconductor Testing Laboratory" on January 13, 2025. Equipped with advanced testing equipment, the lab provides a platform for internships, research, and industry-academia collaboration, fostering top-tier semiconductor talent.
On January 10, 2025, the Department of Applied Chinese held its annual Graduation Project Competition, featuring 10 teams and 48 senior students. The event showcased diverse and innovative achievements in Chinese language teaching, earning high praise from the judges.
CYCU’s Applied Chinese Language and Literature Department has developed a digital learning program to preserve Bunun language and culture. Led by Assistant Professor Liao Yi-Yao and Indigenous Program Director Lumav, the program uses interactive games and podcasts to create an innovative model for language revitalization and cultural heritage.
Chung Yuan Christian University’s Indigenous Design Program showcased outcomes from 15 courses on January 8, under the theme "Creative Sustainability: From Cultural Roots to Future Vision." Held at the CYCU Xin-Shi Teaching Base, the exhibition highlighted the program’s commitment to preserving indigenous culture and fostering innovation in design education.
CYCU has once again received industry recognition for its advancements in smart computing and quantum technology education. On January 7, 2025, CYCU was honored with a donation of teaching platforms and equipment valued at NT$364,360 from Holtek Semiconductor. These resources will be integrated into courses such as "IoT System Design" and "Deep Learning," further enhancing students' theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
CYCU brings the real world into classrooms through its USR (University Social Responsibility) initiative, empowering students to address local needs and build international ties. Projects include supporting remote farmers, improving community spaces, and collaborating on global workshops. USR is a daily practice at CYCU, embedding “service for mutual benefit” into its DNA and fostering irreplaceable soft skills.
CYCU’s Department of Interior Design excelled at the 9th Green Living Design Competition, earning the "Best School of the Year" award. CYCU students demonstrated exceptional creativity, securing 1 silver, 1 bronze, a Best Application Award, and 5 honorable mentions in the "2030 Living Space Design" category, showcasing their dedication to sustainable and innovative design.
The College of Electrical and Computer Engineering at CYCU hosted the third MSI Cup, bridging academic research with practical applications. Among 159 registered teams, 121 advanced to the finals, demonstrating exceptional creativity, technical skill, and technological innovation.
The Ministry of Education's 2024 statistics show CYCU’s freshman enrollment rate at 100% for the fifth consecutive year, with an actual rate of 101.23% including ICT program quotas. Uninflated by reserved quotas, CYCU leads all private universities and has ranked first among national comprehensive universities for seven consecutive years.
