Revolutionizing Administration! CYCU Launches First AI Innovation Competition.

CYCU in collaboration with the Yuema CYCU Foundation and supported by the DHC Development Fund, launched Taiwan’s first AI competition tailored for university administrative staff. The winning team received a top prize of NT$100,000.

The competition encouraged staff to apply AI tools to real campus challenges, aiming to enhance efficiency and drive digital transformation. Launched in January, it attracted 22 cross-department teams, with 15 advancing to the finals after initial proposal reviews.

Finalists proposed diverse, practical solutions—including data automation, workforce optimization, regulation comparison, reporting, and student support—demonstrating strong potential in AI application.

In his remarks at the finals, President Ying-Ming Lee emphasized that AI is no longer a distant concept but an immediate tool for improving administration. He reaffirmed CYCU’s commitment to digital transformation as the university marks its 70th anniversary, promoting AI adoption across departments to build a smarter, more efficient model of campus governance.

Chairman Hsieh Chien-Hsin of the Yuema CYCU Foundation remarked, “As AI rapidly evolves, CYCU must boldly lead the way. Every participant in this competition plays a vital role in that journey.”

He emphasized that the Foundation, together with the DHC Development Fund, supports this initiative in hopes of cultivating a strong culture of AI-driven innovation on campus—one that will eventually bear fruit and bring tangible benefits of digital transformation to all faculty and students.

The top prize and NT$100,000 award went to the team “Let Me Get Off Work”, whose project titled “Enhancing Administrative Efficiency with AI: A Case Study on Teaching Subsidy Projects” impressed the judges.

By integrating Microsoft Power Platform and Copilot, the team fully automated processes such as application, reimbursement, notification, and tracking. Their solution features modular design and low-code accessibility, making it highly scalable and adaptable across departments—earning unanimous praise from the judges.

The Excellence Award, with a prize of NT$50,000, was presented to the team “AI Berry Lab” for their project “Smart Learning Planning Assistant System: An Integrated Solution for Student Support and Campus Resource Promotion.”

The system combines AI-powered Q&A with learning behavior analysis to provide students with real-time, personalized guidance. By integrating diverse campus resources, it helps students build tailored learning paths while significantly reducing administrative workload and enhancing the effectiveness and quality of student support services.

CYCU is actively integrating AI across administration and teaching. In addition to launching Taiwan’s first AI competition for staff, the university introduced the AI Teaching & Learning Pilot Program, encouraging faculty-student collaboration and aligning with national education policies and CYCU’s smart university vision.

As a long-time AI leader, CYCU was among the first 17 universities in Taiwan to partner with NVIDIA, and in 2023 became the first private university to sign an AI University MOU with NVIDIA.

CYCU has embedded AI in over 500 courses, published Taiwan’s first AI Teaching & Learning Accountability Report, and leads the Taoyuan AI University Industry Co-Creation Project, connecting students and faculty with real-world industry needs.

From governance to classrooms, CYCU is building a smart, efficient, and future-ready campus through practical AI innovation.
