CYCU received the Gold Distinction for its "Sustainability Development Report" in the 2024 inaugural "Taiwan Sustainable University Award" by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy. Upholding holistic education and promoting a sustainable campus, CYCU integrates quality teaching and academia-industry collaboration to drive societal sustainable development, gaining widespread recognition.
To promote ethnic integration and holistic education, Chung Yuan Christian University’s Indigenous Student Resource Center held the 2024 "Indigenous Culture Week" opening on November 13. Co-organized by the Indigenous Youth Club and the College of Design’s Indigenous Program, the three-day event attracted nearly 200 participants and highlighted CYCU's dedication to cultural diversity and ethnic identity.
Fang Jun-Neng, an alumnus of the International Trade Department and Ph.D. program in Business at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), received the Ministry of Education's 4th "Global Outstanding Overseas Taiwan Alumni Award" for his contributions to Taiwan and the global community. This biennial award began in 2018, with 11 recipients honored this year. Fang has grown from a young Malaysian dreamer to an international industry leader, exemplifying CYCU's core values of "Faith, Hope, and Love," making this recognition well-deserved.
In the 29th "College and University Information Application Service Innovation Competition" finals, Chung Yuan Christian University won two first-place awards and the Best Popularity Award. The "Apical Image Analysis and Detection System" secured first place in the "Industry-Academia Cooperation Group 1," achieving a seven-time consecutive championship. The "MIRRORCLE – Your Magic Mirror" project won first place in the "Labor Empowerment Training Group," aiding users in interview confidence.
Chung Yuan Christian University's College of Smart Computing and Quantum Information held the "1st Smart Computing and Quantum Information Innovation Competition" on October 30. Students showcased diverse, innovative projects, earning awards such as the Excellence Award, Best Application Award, Best Innovation Award, and Special Quantum Information Award.
First-year students in Chung Yuan’s OBU Program recently held an all-English design review, showcasing their skills through projects themed "Think Global, Act Local" in collaboration with Chung Yuan Night Market businesses, earning high praise.
Since its launch in 2020, Chung Yuan’s "Design Together" workshop has become a new design education tradition. The 2024 "Design Together 5.0" attracted 340 faculty and students, highlighting fresh energy in Chung Yuan’s design education.
On October 23, 2024, Chung Yuan Christian University’s Career Development Office held the "Career Dream Train Showcase and Awards" at the Jong Juo-Chang Memorial Hall, celebrating its achievements in career counseling. Co-hosted with the Indigenous Student Resource Center, the event concluded the university’s success in the Ministry of Education's national competitive programs, establishing Chung Yuan as a leader in career guidance.
In response to the needs of the new era and to provide students with a higher quality learning environment, the B1 "Study Room and Reading Room" of the Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library underwent a comprehensive renovation and was reopened on October 23, 2024. This renovation not only enhanced the comfort and brightness of the study space but also added more seating and power outlets to meet student needs. It fully demonstrates the university's commitment to prioritizing student needs, making this space an ideal place for Chung Yuan students to engage in self-directed learning.
Chung Yuan Christian University triumphed at the Taiwan Innotech Expo's invention competition, winning the top Platinum Award again in 2024 after its victory in 2023. The consecutive Platinum Awards were achieved by a team led by Associate Professor Lin Cheng-An from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, featuring patented nanobiomedical microscopy and contrast agent technology. Additionally, Professor Huang Hsin-Hsing from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Professor Hsieh Ming-Fa from Biomedical Engineering won gold and silver medals, respectively, showcasing CYCU's strong innovation capabilities!
Guided by the Ministry of Education and organized by the National Science and Technology Museum and the Office of the Cross-disciplinary Talent Cultivation Project for Sustainable Energy, the 2024 "Taiwan Energy - Sustainable Energy Innovation Competition" attracted 227 teams from universities and colleges nationwide. The Department of Electrical Engineering at Chung Yuan Christian University combined solar energy storage technology, electronic incineration simulation, and intelligent control to develop an electronic energy storage furnace, winning the gold medal in the "University Net Zero Emissions Category."
Professor Hong Yingyi of Chung Yuan Christian University’s Department of Electrical Engineering won the 11th "Youshang Technology Invention Award" in the AI category, being the only recipient from a private university. The award underscores her contributions to industry-academia collaboration and the potential of AI in transforming traditional industries.
