CYCU College of Design continues to strengthen its international dual-degree collaboration with Oxford Brookes University (OBU), focusing on the Sustainable Urban Design & Planning (SUDP) program and the cultivation of globally competitive, sustainability-oriented design talent. In late December 2025, OBU’s Head of Urban Design Professor Laura Novo De Azevedo visited Taiwan to engage in academic exchange, curriculum discussion, and cooperation planning. The visit also included participation in the 2025 CYCU Christmas Walking Festival, highlighting CYCU’s commitment to people-centered public space practice.

CYCU achieved outstanding results in Taoyuan City Government’s “Research for Taoyuan” Student Innovation and Research Competition, standing out as the school with the most awards. With interdisciplinary proposals addressing traffic safety, sustainability, smart energy, environmental regeneration, and elderly care, CYCU students showcased strong innovation and practical research capabilities, contributing solutions to real urban challenges.

On January 8, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) Department of Applied Chinese Language and Literature hosted its annual Graduation Project Competition, featuring 10 teams and over 40 senior students. The projects showcased students’ strengths in Mandarin teaching, cultural adaptation, and digital applications, highlighting both practical competence and market potential, and reflecting CYCU’s emphasis on learning-by-doing and whole-person education.

According to the 2026 University Brand Power rankings released by 104 Job Bank, CYCU was named No. 1 among private general universities, receiving the Institutional Excellence Award.

CYCU announced that Dr. Ting-Hui Lin, newly appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, has been approved as a Yushan Young Scholar under the Ministry of Education’s Yushan Scholar Program, becoming the first recipient in CYCU’s history. Formerly a postdoctoral researcher at Scripps Research, Dr. Lin specializes in structural and translational immunology, with research spanning emerging infectious diseases, neutralizing antibodies, and vaccine design. His appointment strengthens CYCU’s strategic focus on biomedical innovation, international collaboration, and pandemic preparedness, while further enhancing talent cultivation through research-driven teaching and interdisciplinary training.

CYCU showcased outstanding Undeterred by cold winter rain, Chung Yuan Christian University continued its 41-year New Year’s Eve tradition. On December 31, CYCU held a countdown and fireworks celebration, after which faculty and students set off on a 34-kilometer journey by bicycle, inline skating, and running to Taipei to participate in the New Year’s Day flag-raising ceremony at the Presidential Office, welcoming 2026 with passion and action.

CYCU showcased outstanding achievements in digital learning at the 2025 MOE ELOE International Conference in Taipei, earning multiple major awards. Leading the “Digital Empowerment and Lifelong Learning Alliance,” CYCU has, over the past four years, strengthened digital literacy, enhanced curriculum development, and promoted resource sharing in collaboration with Providence University, Fu Jen Catholic University, Chinese Culture University, and Tunghai University. Through a structured governance model and collaborative mechanisms, the alliance has continuously advanced cross-university digital learning innovation and impact.

CYCU celebrates its 70th anniversary with outstanding performance. The university achieved a 100% freshman enrollment rate for the sixth consecutive year, and with approved ICT expansion quotas, its actual enrollment rate reached 101.33%. CYCU has ranked first among all public and private comprehensive universities nationwide for eight consecutive years.

CYCU continued its winning streak at the 20th Holtek MCU Creative Design Competition, held on December 20. Competing against hundreds of teams nationwide, CYCU won eight major awards, including a Gold Medal in the Creative Product Design category. A cross-disciplinary team earned the top prize with a solar-tracking sunshade control device, marking CYCU’s fifth consecutive championship.

CYCU’s College of Science unveiled the “Star Corridor,” an immersive multimedia astronomy exhibition designed by renowned astronomer Dr. Wei-Hsin Sun. The space showcases the beauty of the universe and will serve as a key platform for upcoming educational and outreach activities as CYCU prepares for the 2026 “Year of Space.”

Hosted by CYCU College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and exclusively sponsored by MSI, the 4th “Awakening of the Force—EECS Project and Creative Proposal Competition” held its finals and showcase on December 17. Centered on innovative theoretical and practical applications of AI in R&D, the event attracted 220 participating teams, highlighting CYCU’s strong achievements in AI education and hands-on engineering training.

CYCU’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, led by Associate Professor Cheng-An Lin, partnered with Chao-Chiang Technology Co., Ltd. to win the 22nd National Innovation Award (Academia–Industry Innovation Category, 2025) with their “Plug-and-Play Visual Nano Optical Imaging System for Real-Time Liquid Biopsy.” The technology has completed pilot production and passed multiple safety and compatibility tests, demonstrating strong readiness for market application and high commercial potential.
