With the rapid advancement of information and communication technology, Chung Yuan University actively responds to key technological trends by integrating ample resources and investing 16 million NT dollars in establishing artificial intelligence (AI) equipment and optimizing corresponding spaces. Simultaneously, the university is committed to training teachers to equip them with the knowledge and skills to address emerging technologies, continuously investing resources in curriculum development and talent cultivation. Through these efforts, Chung Yuan University is dedicated to creating a smart learning campus environment, embodying a teaching philosophy centered around student-centricity.
In recent years, Chung Yuan University has made significant investments in AI education, acquiring AI teaching equipment and establishing professional AI practical classrooms. Additionally, the university has expanded AI course learning spaces across its College of Science, College of Engineering, College of Business, and College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, providing opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty and students. Among these initiatives, the “Future Travel – Metaverse Smart Classroom” integrates four major metaverse-themed teaching modules, including Future Manufacturing, Future Design, Circular Economy and Sustainable Development, and Quantum Technology, developing distinctive course modules that make it a leading smart teaching venue nationwide. The high utilization rate of the practical classrooms reflects students’ keen interest in and demand for AI learning.
In addition to establishing hardware and software facilities and environments, Chung Yuan University is actively promoting teaching innovation. The university integrates resources and faculty expertise in artificial intelligence, data analytics, and quantum computing to establish bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Intelligent Computing and Big Data. Since the academic year 2021, the university has introduced mandatory AI foundational courses for freshmen and offers at least 30 related courses each semester to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to meet technological demands. Chung Yuan University has also pioneered the creation of “Student Learning Outcome Assurance Reports” and “AI Teaching and Learning Accountability Reports” to ensure teaching quality and enhance student learning outcomes, thereby implementing a PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) mechanism.
