2023 Taipei Urban Design Festival: CYCU Information Management Department team achieves second place.

In the 2023 “Taipei City Code Festival – Urban Dashboard Hackathon,” organized by the Taipei City Government Information Bureau, a total of 55 teams with 243 participants from across the country showcased their programming talents. Professor Liu Shih-Hao from the Information Management Department at CYCU led a student team, demonstrating outstanding programming skills and rich creativity. Focusing on the theme of “Resilient City,” the team proposed a solution to the long-standing issue of water accumulation in the area, showcasing their knowledge and unique creative thinking. The team achieved an excellent result, earning the “Second Place” award in the competition.

Under the theme of “Resilient City – Water Utility Efficiency Monitoring,” students from the Information Management Department emphasized adopting the perspective of Taipei citizens to clearly identify the locations where problems occur. Despite the Taipei City Government’s promotion of sponge city policies for nearly a decade, certain areas still face issues of water accumulation. Therefore, through the analysis of Open Data datasets on Taipei City’s data platform, the solution proposed by Information Management Department students can assist the city government in more accurately identifying ineffective water and green facilities. This, in turn, enables the implementation of responsive measures to address the long-standing issue of water accumulation in specific areas.
