Expanding Horizons: 2023 International Summer Workshop by the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

To enhance students’ international perspectives and practical skills, the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Chung Yuan Christian University organized the ‘1st International Summer Workshop’ from August 2 to 22. The workshop hosted a total of 69 foreign participants from the Philippines and Japan, along with 54 students and 20 professors from the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, embarking on a three-week cross-cultural learning journey in Taiwan.

The inaugural International Summer Workshop (2023 CYCU EECS Summer Camp Program) marks the first collaborative effort of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, encompassing departments including Industrial Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science, to organize an interdisciplinary international camp. The event took place at Chung Yuan Christian University and featured English-language professional lectures, hands-on projects, and cultural excursions. Participating sister institutions from Chung Yuan Christian University included Mapua University and Technological Institute of the Philippines from the Philippines, and Kansai University from Japan.

The schedule of the workshop included 13 specialized lectures, 20 group laboratory experiments, cultural excursions, and a presentation of project outcomes, offering a diverse and rich curriculum.

The College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science expressed that through the workshop, students were able to enhance their professional abilities by engaging in English conversations and interactions with foreign participants, as well as collaborating on practical projects. Apart from improving their technical skills, the experience also contributed to broadening the students’ international perspectives and enhancing their interpersonal communication and teamwork skills. This aligns with the goal of ‘Bringing Chung Yuan to the World, Bringing the World to Chung Yuan’.
