The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at CYCU is one of the earliest established industrial engineering departments in Taiwan, having cultivated outstanding talent for Taiwan’s industry for decades. As the department approaches its 60th anniversary, it has received a huge donation of US$2 million in 2023. The donor has pledged to donate US$2 million over 10 years and designated the funds to support the continuous development of the department. This demonstrates that Chung Yuan Christian University’s long-term commitment to holistic education has gained recognition and approval from the public.
Retired Honorary Professor Wang Huang-san of Chung Yuan Christian University, who received the donation on behalf of the university, stated that the donors are a kind-hearted anonymous Christian couple residing in the United States. They have long been concerned about social trends in Taiwan, particularly in the field of industrial engineering education. They have seen the efforts and dedication of Chung Yuan Christian University and are willing to entrust this donation to the university, hoping that the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering can accelerate its development with the help of this donation and contribute to global sustainable environmental management issues.
Professor Wang Huang-san said, “Chung Yuan Christian University has been promoting holistic education for decades, emphasizing the balanced development of students’ physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, which helps to strengthen the spirit of devotion and faith. These efforts are worthy of recognition.”
