The Overseas Community Affairs Council is organizing the “2024 Myanmar Chinese Language Teacher Training Workshop” at Chung Yuan Christian University from August 6 to 19, with an opening ceremony on August 7. A total of 39 Chinese language teachers from Myanmar will participate in this 12-day training and study tour.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Lu Yuanrong of the Overseas Community Affairs Council stated that the trainees come from regions such as Yangon, Taunggyi, Pyin Oo Lwin, and Lashio. Despite the unstable social situation and frequent conflicts in Myanmar, which have severely affected local schools, these teachers remain committed to promoting Chinese education. He encouraged the participants to learn from Taiwan’s Chinese language experts and to understand Taiwan’s higher education through subsequent visits. He also urged the teachers to encourage more young students to pursue higher education in Taiwan.
Deputy Director Lu Chunyu of the Chinese Language Teaching Center at Chung Yuan Christian University, which is organizing the workshop, mentioned that the program features outstanding instructors from various fields in Taiwan. The curriculum emphasizes practical teaching over theory and includes “teaching demonstrations and school visits” and a “two-day cultural tour.” These activities will greatly enhance the teaching competitiveness of the teachers from Myanmar and increase their understanding of Taiwan.
