Soaring to International Recognition: CYCU Professors Ranked in the Top 0.5% Globally by ScholarGPS.

According to the latest report from ScholarGPS, a global academic impact assessment platform, a total of 14 professors from Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) have been ranked among the top 0.5% of scholars worldwide across all fields, demonstrating the university’s outstanding contributions to international academia. As one of Taiwan’s leading private universities, CYCU has long been committed to advancing academic research and innovation, enhancing its global influence through interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange, with remarkable results.

The CYCU Office of Research and Development stated that ScholarGPS encompasses over 200 million publications globally, including journal articles, books, book chapters, conference papers, and patents, categorized into 14 domains, 177 disciplines, and more than 350,000 specialized fields. The rankings identify the top 0.5% of scholars globally in terms of overall fields, disciplines, and specialized fields based on various publication criteria. The distinguished scholars list is divided into “Top 0.5% Scholars in Global Contribution Over the Past 5 Years” and “Top 0.5% Scholars in Lifetime Global Contribution,” with academic rankings based on multiple indicators such as publication volume, total citations, and quality (h-index).

CYCU has 9 professors listed in the global top 0.5% for “Contribution Over the Past 5 Years,” across various fields: Environmental Engineering (Professors Chao Huan-Ping and You Sheng-Jie from the Department of Environmental Engineering), Chemical Engineering (Professors Chen Rong-Hui, Liu Wei-Ren, and Distinguished Professor Li Kui-Ran from the Department of Chemical Engineering), Mathematics (Distinguished Professor Yang Min-Sheng from the Department of Applied Mathematics), Business Administration (Distinguished Professor Hu Yi-Zhong from the Department of Business Administration), Electrical Engineering (Distinguished Professor Hung Ying-Yi from the Department of Electrical Engineering), and Industrial Engineering (Distinguished Professor Huang Hui-Min from the Department of Industrial Engineering).

Chung Yuan Christian University has 8 professors listed in the global top 0.5% for “Lifetime Contribution” across all fields. These distinguished scholars include one in Industrial Engineering (Distinguished Professor Huang Hui-Min from the Department of Industrial Engineering), two in Mathematics (Distinguished Professor Yang Min-Sheng and Chair Professor Siegfried Schaible from the Department of Applied Mathematics), one in Electrical Engineering (Emeritus Professor Kuo Sen-Mao from the Department of Electrical Engineering), three in Chemical Engineering (Professors Chen Rong-Hui, Distinguished Professor Zhang Yong, and Distinguished Professor Li Meng-Hui from the Department of Chemical Engineering), and one in Chemistry (Distinguished Professor Yeh Jui-Ming from the Department of Chemistry).

The Office of Research and Development at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) further highlighted that the university’s academic research impact is among the top in the nation. According to the 2023 Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI) index, CYCU ranks sixth among comprehensive universities nationwide in the fields of “Materials Science” and “Engineering,” surpassing many national universities. In the “Chemistry” field, CYCU ranks second among private comprehensive universities in Taiwan, solidifying its position as a leader in this area.
