The Quantum Taiwan Forum, co-organized by the Taiwan Quantum Computing and Information Technology Association (TAQCI) and the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), took place on the 4th of this month at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. The event attracted major players in quantum computing, such as IBM Japan, Fujitsu, and Intel, all leaders in the field. This forum aims to promote closer collaboration between Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and global quantum technologies, further strengthening Taiwan’s role in the quantum computing sector.
Under the guidance of Professor Qingrui Zhang, a founding member of TAQCI and a Chair Professor at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), the College of Intelligent Computing and Quantum Information at CYCU offers a variety of courses, including quantum computing, quantum mechanics, and quantum communication. Professors Huang Congwei, Chen Zhiyu, and Zhang Yanrui lead efforts to provide students with hands-on experience and resources, including the successful development of a digital annealing algorithm and the establishment of a full-fledged quantum computing infrastructure.
Professor Qingrui Zhang, also the director of the Quantum Information Center at CYCU, is committed to advancing quantum technology. His popular science book, “The Quantum Technology Revolution”, has received widespread praise, with each chapter uniquely ending with poems and calligraphy. His YouTube series “Quantum Entanglement: From Philosophy to Technology” has attracted more than 2.05 million views. Recently, his English-language book, “Tiny Quantum Giant Revolution,” published by World Scientific Publisher, offers new insights into the universe and future technology, appealing to a global audience.
Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) recently invited Dr. Jing-Tai Zhang, Assistant CEO and quantum computing expert at SPINQ Technology Co., Ltd., to deliver a keynote speech titled “A Bird’s Eye View of Quantum Computing: Present Innovations and Future Educational Strategies”. Dr. Zhang shared cutting-edge insights into quantum technology, providing students and faculty with a comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in quantum computing and future educational strategies. Students expressed excitement and anticipation for future exploration in this rapidly evolving field.
In line with its commitment to quantum technology, CYCU established the nation’s first College of Intelligent Computing and Quantum Information in 2022. This institution focuses on quantum computing education, research, and promotion, while also fostering well-rounded skills in artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and systems integration. This year marks CYCU’s third year of participation in the National Quantum Team, playing a significant role in advancing the practical application and development of quantum computing.
