On December 13, Chung Yuan Christian University, supported by the Ministry of Education’s “Humanities and Social Innovation Industry Linkage Program”, hosted Taiwan’s first “AI Music Single MV and Sound-Driven Art” presentation featuring the iconic theme song from the film adaptation of Hakka literary classic Lupin Flower. Chung Chao-Cheng, a towering figure in Taiwan’s Hakka literature, left a lasting legacy through his works. Marking the centennial of his birth, the university used modern technology to pay tribute to this literary giant, transcending time and space.
This groundbreaking AI technology event took place at Chung Yuan Christian University’s Feng Ya Song Art Hall, combining AI and 5G technologies to revive the voice of Hakka literary master Chung Chao-Cheng. Through holographic projection, Master Chung “appeared” on stage to perform the Lupin Flower theme song alongside Golden Melody Award-winning singer Tseng Shu-Chin.
The event also introduced the innovative collaboration of an AI virtual band with a live string ensemble, seamlessly performing together. Using 5G connectivity, audiences in Taipei, Taoyuan, and Tainan simultaneously experienced the aesthetic fusion of culture and technology, showcasing a new era of interdisciplinary creativity.
Associate Professor Chen Ya-Chen from Chung Yuan Christian University’s General Education Center, the organizer of the event, stated that this is Taiwan’s first interdisciplinary event integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G technology across music, literature, film, electrical engineering, and computer science.
“What kind of innovative sparks are ignited when music meets AI?” The event featured a multi-level interactive experience area, allowing attendees to hear the voice of Master Chung Chao-Cheng and enjoy the AI-created Lupin Flower music video and sound-driven art.
Chung Yuan Christian University stated that “Chung Chao-Cheng Sings Lupin Flower Again” is not only a remarkable achievement in transcending time and space through technology but also a heartfelt tribute to cultural heritage and the legacy of Master Chung. The event showcased the innovative fusion of technology and literature while honoring the profound influence of the literary giant.
The university expressed hope to continue fostering interdisciplinary collaborations in the future, creating more opportunities for the integration of technology and the humanities, and enabling traditional culture to shine anew in the digital era.
