CYCU Faculty Honored in ScholarGPS Global Top 0.5% Outstanding Scholars List.

According to the latest report from the global academic impact assessment platform ScholarGPS, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) ranks 460th in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 722nd in Engineering and Computer Science, and 1,241st in overall performance. Additionally, multiple CYCU professors have been honored among the top 0.5% of scholars worldwide across all fields, demonstrating the university’s outstanding contributions to the international academic community.

CYCU’s Office of Research and Development stated that ScholarGPS encompasses over 200 million publications worldwide, including journal articles, books, book chapters, conference papers, and patents. These are classified into 14 broad fields, 177 disciplines, and more than 350,000 specialized domains. Based on different publication definitions, ScholarGPS identifies the top 0.5% of scholars globally across all fields, disciplines, and specialized domains. The rankings are categorized into the “Top 0.5% Scholars in the Past Five Years” and the “Top 0.5% Scholars for Lifetime Contributions,” with evaluations based on multiple indicators, including publication volume, total citations, and research impact (h-index), among others.

In the “Top 0.5% Scholars in the Past Five Years” category, a total of 11 CYCU professors were recognized, covering various disciplines:

  • Environmental Engineering (2 scholars): Professor Wang Ya-Pen and Professor Yu Sheng-Chieh (Department of Environmental Engineering)
  • Biological Sciences (1 scholar): Distinguished Professor Hsiao Chung-Te (Department of Bioscience)
  • Chemical Engineering (4 scholars): Professor Chen Rong-Hui, Professor Liu Wei-Ren, Chair Professor Chang Yung, and Distinguished Lifetime Professor Li Kui-Jan (Department of Chemical Engineering)
  • Mathematics (1 scholar): Distinguished Lifetime Professor Yang Min-Sheng (Department of Applied Mathematics)
  • Business Administration (1 scholar): Distinguished Lifetime Professor Hu Yi-Chung (Department of Business Administration)
  • Electrical Engineering (1 scholar): Chair Professor Hung Ying-Yi (Department of Electrical Engineering)

CYCU has been recognized in the global “Lifetime Contribution” ranking of the top 0.5% scholars across all fields, with a total of 10 professors included. These scholars represent various disciplines:
