CYCU has achieved a 100% enrollment rate for five years straight.

Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) has once again achieved a 100% freshman enrollment rate, marking its fifth consecutive year of full enrollment despite the challenges posed by declining birth rates in higher education. Centered on holistic education, CYCU has also maintained a stable freshman retention rate exceeding 95% annually, reflecting its excellence in professional recruitment and student development.

According to Ke Deng-Yuan, Deputy Director of the Admissions Office, CYCU’s consistent 100% enrollment rate over the past five years is attributed to its strong academic foundation and continuous innovation. Recently, CYCU was ranked as the top private university in Taiwan in Global Views Monthly’s “2025 Employers’ Favorite University” rankings, further proving the success of its holistic education approach.

Ke also highlighted that CYCU has received funding from the Ministry of Education (MOE) to enhance its professional admissions system. By considering the unique characteristics and needs of each department and adhering to the philosophy that “everyone possesses different talents, personalities, abilities, and environments, and success comes from realizing one’s potential,” CYCU has established a tailored admissions framework. This system ensures that students are placed in the most suitable learning environments. Furthermore, the university provides comprehensive student support, including academic counseling, cross-disciplinary guidance, a self-selected academic advisor system, and robust financial and living assistance, allowing students to focus on their studies and reach their full potential.

Committed to cultivating top talent for the nation, CYCU encourages students to develop expertise beyond their primary fields, emphasizing interdisciplinary learning and self-directed education. In March 2021, CYCU partnered with Intel, Foxconn, and ADLINK Technology to establish Taiwan’s first AI robotics 5G private network laboratory. The university also integrates AI and programming into its first-year curriculum, balancing science and humanities education while offering diverse courses in AI and digital humanities to enhance students’ competitiveness in the digital era.

To address globalization and bilingual education trends, CYCU actively participates in the MOE’s “EMI Bilingual Learning Initiative” and has developed its own distinctive bilingual courses, strengthening students’ ability to apply English in professional settings. In February 2023, CYCU further advanced AI applications by establishing a Metaverse Smart Classroom in collaboration with Edxus Technology. This initiative includes curriculum development in quantum technology, future manufacturing, design, circular economy, and sustainable development. By integrating EMI with technological innovation, CYCU aims to nurture future professionals with interdisciplinary expertise, global perspectives, and self-learning capabilities. CYCU’s outstanding talent development has been widely recognized by industry leaders, with TSMC regularly holding recruitment events on campus. In mid-March, TSMC plans to expand its hiring efforts at CYCU, benefiting over a thousand students.

Additionally, CYCU actively collaborates with industry, government, and academia to provide comprehensive career counseling. Each department offers more than 50 career-oriented programs, supported by funding from the Ministry of Labor and the MOE to enhance employment resources. CYCU also partners with the “Elite University Alliance” to share career guidance and internship opportunities. From the moment students enroll, they receive career interest assessments and competency evaluations via the University Career Competency Platform (UCAN) to help them plan their careers effectively. Employer surveys indicate that CYCU graduates receive highly positive evaluations in the workplace.

CYCU President Lee Ying-Ming stated that in October 2025, the university will celebrate its 70th anniversary, marking a significant milestone. As Taiwan faces the ongoing impact of declining birth rates, the next few years will be critical. CYCU remains committed to its holistic education philosophy, striving to maintain a dual achievement of 100% admission and enrollment rates while positioning itself as a respected and inspiring institution of higher learning.
