CYCU “Innovation & Entrepreneurship Carnival”AI-Driven Future, Industry-Academia for Sustainability.

To bridge industry-academia collaboration and foster innovation and entrepreneurship, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) will host the “Innovation & Entrepreneurship Carnival” on March 18-19 to celebrate its 70th anniversary.

This event will showcase CYCU’s outstanding achievements in innovative technology, entrepreneurship education, industry-academia collaboration, and startup incubation. Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng will attend and deliver a speech, recognizing CYCU’s efforts in translating academic research into industrial applications and encouraging campus entrepreneurship and innovation-driven research to contribute to Taoyuan’s economic growth.

Dr. Zhang Yong, Director of CYCU’s Office of Industry-Academia Operations, stated that the event’s theme, “AI-Driven Future, Industry-Academia for Sustainability,” aims to bring together the innovative and entrepreneurial energy of faculty and students while integrating industry resources. The carnival will serve as a platform for interdisciplinary exchange and development, fostering stronger connections between academia and industry while advancing the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Since its founding, CYCU has actively integrated academic research with industry needs by establishing a robust industry-academia collaboration platform to drive technology transfer and innovation. The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Carnival will feature alumni, corporate representatives, and startups sharing insights on the latest entrepreneurial trends and cutting-edge technologies. The event includes student startup competitions, keynote talks, entrepreneurship forums, and industry-academia exhibitions, offering a diverse array of activities to showcase innovative capabilities and promote industry-academia synergy.

The “Innovation & Entrepreneurship Carnival” will feature several key events:

  • “Future Navigation Innovation Lecture” – Industry experts and prominent startup alumni will explore the impact of AI on future life and business, offering deep insights into how AI is reshaping daily life and the commercial landscape.
  • “Five Major Research Centers Technology Presentation” – CYCU’s Thin Film Technology Research Center, Semiconductor Materials and Advanced Optics Research Center, Smart Manufacturing Research Center, Quantum Information Center, and Net-Zero Transition Sustainability Center will showcase cutting-edge technologies to support corporate transformation and upgrading.

Another highlight is the “Entrepreneurship at CYCU Forum,” themed “The Resilient Path to Life Transformation.” Successful alumni entrepreneurs will share their journeys, including:

  • Ya-Ni Lee (Founder, New Orbit Consulting)
  • Chia-Yen Tseng (VP, Nichiway Technology)
  • Ming-Yen Ho (CIO & Partner, Taiwan Startup Hub)
  • Yi-Wei Chan (Founder, VoiceTube)
  • Yi-Jou Hung (Founder, Micro PC – Dot Dot Plastics)
  • Chieh-Jen Han (Founder, Han’s Home Group)
  • Yong Zhang (Founder, Prebio Biotech & CYCU Chair Professor)

In addition to lectures and forums, the event will include a Startup Pitch Competition tailored for corporate representatives and investors. Twenty-five startups from CYCU’s incubators and youth entrepreneurship hubs will present their innovations, providing a platform for investors to discover new business opportunities. The carnival will also host various entrepreneurial resource exchange activities to support young entrepreneurs and students in Taoyuan by connecting them with industry experts and the latest startup insights.

The 2025 Innovation & Entrepreneurship Carnival will take place from March 18-19 at CYCU’s Chung Chuo-Chang Memorial Hall. For the first time, CYCU’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Center, Industry-Academia Platform & Patent Transfer Center, and Industrial Accelerator & Incubation Center will integrate their vast resources to create a comprehensive startup event.
