“Chinese Language Teacher Training Program for Thai Educators” launched by CYCU.

To enhance the professional teaching competencies of overseas Chinese language educators and strengthen collaboration between Thai overseas Chinese schools and Taiwan, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC), R.O.C. is organizing the “2025 Chinese Language Teacher Training Program for Thai Educators” from April 13 to 26, 2025.

This year’s program is hosted by Chung Yuan Christian University and welcomes 40 Chinese language teachers from Thailand and Northern Thailand. Over the course of the program, participants will engage in 66 hours of intensive training and experience sharing, aimed at comprehensively improving their teaching professionalism.

Director Lin Chi-jung of the Overseas Chinese Education Department, OCAC, stated that the Council has long placed great importance on the development of overseas Chinese education in Thailand. She expressed hope that this training program will not only enhance the participants’ professional teaching competencies but also deepen their cultural literacy.

Section Chief Lee Wei-nung introduced the “Global Chinese Language Network”, an online platform established by the OCAC to support traditional Chinese language instruction. He encouraged participants to make full use of these digital resources to improve lesson preparation and teaching effectiveness, while also expanding the diversity of their instructional approaches.

In her remarks, Dr. Daphne Ou, Director of the Chinese Language Center at Chung Yuan Christian University, noted that the university has been entrusted by the OCAC to organize the teacher training program for Thai educators since 2017. With four successful cohorts to date, this year’s program was thoughtfully designed based on the practical needs expressed by past participants from Thailand, offering a well-balanced curriculum that integrates both theoretical knowledge and hands-on teaching strategies.

The “2025 Chinese Language Teacher Training Program for Thai Educators” features a diverse and enriching curriculum, covering teaching methodologies, course design, model lessons, and group practicum sessions. In addition to professional pedagogical training, the program also includes courses on cultural heritage and innovation, specifically designed to help participants integrate cultural elements into their classroom teaching, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of passing down traditions to the next generation of overseas Chinese youth.

The program also includes school visits, providing participants with deeper insights into Taiwan’s educational environment and inspiring new perspectives on teaching and learning.
