CYCU 67th Commencement Encourages Graduates to Embrace the World with a Holistic Spirit.

Chung Yuan Christian University held its 67th Commencement Ceremony on June 7, 2025, at 3 p.m. in the Chih-Hsin Hall Auditorium. The ceremony featured a keynote address by Dr. Chien-Nan Lin, Fellow of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and CYCU’s Chief Technology Advisor, who shared his insights from the frontiers of science and technology. He encouraged graduates to bravely pursue their dreams, apply what they have learned, and step forward into the future with confidence.

In his address, President Ying-Ming Lee urged graduates to uphold the spirit of holistic education and strive for a meaningful life grounded in depth and value. He emphasized that true success is not defined by fame or wealth, but by personal growth, care for others, and contribution to society.

For 70 years, CYCU has remained steadfast in its founding Christian mission to serve with love. The university’s commitment to education has shaped generations of students and continues to be the foundation upon which graduates can build their future. President Lee expressed his hope that all CYCU alumni will become salt and light in society, bringing warmth to the world and illuminating the lives of others.

Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-Cheng shared his personal experiences during the ceremony, encouraging graduates to look beyond grades and focus on the core values behind their education. He emphasized that both precision and broad perspective are essential—whether in design or engineering. Mayor Chang urged students to reflect on the thinking and skills developed through their studies, as these will form a solid foundation for meeting future challenges.

Chairman Kwang-Cheng Chang expressed his deep emotions as everyone gathered to witness this meaningful moment for the graduates. He emphasized that since its founding, CYCU has remained committed to holistic education and the core values of love and selflessness. Over the past 70 years, the university has nurtured countless talented individuals who now contribute across diverse fields around the world.

Keynote speaker and CYCU Chemistry alumnus Dr. Chien-Nan Lin encouraged graduates through his own life journey. “There are no shortcuts in life,” he said. “Only integrity, perseverance, and steady effort lead to lasting success.” He recalled starting at Formosa Plastics from the ground up, leading plant construction in the U.S., and eventually building a world-renowned petrochemical base—always guided by CYCU’s motto, “Faith and Action.” Dr. Lin urged graduates to embrace change and challenges, and to move forward with integrity and innovation as their wings, shaping a meaningful and impactful future.

As the representative of international graduates, Asahi Takai from Japan, a graduate of the Department of Business Administration, delivered a heartfelt speech. She reflected on the challenges and growth she experienced while studying in Taiwan, sharing that the journey had broadened her perspective and deeply enriched her life. Looking back on the past four years, she said Taiwan had truly become her second home. She expressed sincere gratitude to her parents, professors, and friends for their support, highlighting the warm, multicultural, and caring spirit of CYCU.

CYCU announced that a total of 3,861 students graduated in the 2024 academic year, marking an important milestone in their lives. A highlight this year was the graduation of the first cohort from the Chung Yuan Christian University and University of Wisconsin Milwaukee dual bachelor’s degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Several students from the program have been admitted to prestigious graduate schools in the United States, demonstrating outstanding academic achievement.
