CYCU Int’l Business Prof. Sanchez-Loor Honored with Plum Blossom Card for Dedication to Taiwan.

Dr. Daniel A. Sanchez-Loor, Assistant Professor in CYCU’s Department of International Business and a native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, was recently granted the government’s “Plum Blossom Card,” a permanent residency for distinguished foreign professionals. He is among the few CYCU faculty to receive this honor, recognizing his outstanding contributions in education, research, and industry collaboration, as well as the university’s commitment to internationalization. Since coming to Taiwan in 2012, Dr. Sanchez-Loor has specialized in behavioral operations, supply chain, and applied economics, publishing in leading journals such as the Journal of Environmental Management, Australian Journal of Management, and Taiwan Economic Review.

Dr. Sanchez-Loor also brings extensive industry experience, having worked at Disney and in medical imaging and tourism before teaching at ESPOL in Ecuador. At CYCU, he has actively advanced internationalization and innovative teaching through EMI courses such as “Emerging Market Management” and “Multinational Business Management,” which are well received by students. In 2023, he launched the “Neighbor-Li” project, guiding students to support local businesses in Zhongli, embodying university social responsibility while applying classroom knowledge in real-world contexts.

In research, Dr. Sanchez-Loor has received NSTC grants to apply AI in operational decision-making and, since 2018, has served as a member of the EURO Behavioral Operations Research (EURO-BOR) working group, bringing international perspectives to Taiwan’s academia and strengthening CYCU’s global connections.

CYCU stated that Dr. Sanchez-Loor’s teaching and research combine international perspectives with local practice, fostering students’ cross-cultural competencies while promoting industry collaboration and community engagement. His receipt of the Plum Blossom Card is a high recognition of his long-term dedication to education and research in Taiwan, and a source of pride for CYCU.
