CYCU and Delta Electronics Deepen Collaboration in Smart Energy and Power Technology.

On October 8, 2025, Chung Yuan Christian University’s Department of Electrical Engineering visited Delta Electronics’ Zhongli Plant V to discuss collaboration in smart energy and power technology. The meeting focused on international talent development, power management, smart grids, and power electronics applications. Led by Chair Professor Ying-Yi Hong and Department Chair Yu-Kun Lai, the CYCU team exchanged views with Delta’s senior executives, reaching a consensus to strengthen academia–industry cooperation and cultivate a globally minded new generation of electrical engineers.

During the meeting, Department Chair Yu-Kun Lai introduced the current development and research focus of CYCU’s Department of Electrical Engineering, noting its long-term dedication to the fields of power and energy. Research areas span smart grids, renewable energy, power electronics, power systems, embedded systems, electric vehicle control, and AI-based machine learning and deep learning. The curriculum integrates theory with practice through enhanced laboratory courses, project-based learning, and international dual-degree programs with the U.S. and Japan, aiming to build students’ hands-on experience and global competitiveness.

Delta Electronics executives shared the company’s latest advancements in AI-driven power transformation and green energy efficiency. As power consumption of AI servers continues to surge, power efficiency has become a core factor in computing competitiveness. With strengths in power supplies, thermal management, and servo systems, Delta is actively developing high-efficiency power and energy management solutions, driving Taiwan’s power industry into a new era of AI applications. Both parties agreed that now is the right time to strengthen academia–industry collaboration, given the rising demand for professionals in power electronics and energy control.

Moving forward, CYCU and Delta will launch internship and co-training programs to give students hands-on industry experience, enhancing their readiness for real-world applications. The two sides will also explore joint research and international exchange mechanisms, combining academic innovation with industrial expertise to cultivate globally oriented professionals in smart and green energy.

Chair Professor Ying-Yi Hong noted that Delta Electronics’ technological depth and global presence in power and energy efficiency make it an ideal partner for advancing CYCU’s vision of “Smart Power and Sustainable Energy” education. Through this collaboration, the Department of Electrical Engineering aims to deepen connections with local industries and promote green technology and sustainable development in line with CYCU’s commitment to holistic education.

Both sides also plan to pursue further technical exchanges and joint projects in areas such as AI-based power systems, smart grid control, and power electronics energy conversion, continuing to expand the scope of cooperation.

This exchange has laid a solid foundation for a closer industry–academia partnership between CYCU and one of Taiwan’s leading enterprises. Looking ahead, both parties will uphold the vision of “Integrating Learning with Application, Co-Creating Sustainability,” combining educational and industrial strengths to drive innovation in energy technology and build Taiwan’s next-generation talent base for power and smart energy.
