Upholding the philosophy of Holistic Education, CYCU has been actively advancing digital transformation and smart learning, striving to build a Global Digital Lifelong Learning Hub.
To express gratitude for the generous support of alumni and community benefactors toward the university’s digital education initiatives, the Office of Alumni Services and Resource Development held the Naming and Appreciation Ceremony for the Digital Education Development Base on October 17, 2025, at Siou-Teh Hall, 1st floor of the Chang Ching-Yu Memorial Library.
Chairman Kwang-Cheng Chang celebrated CYCU’s 70th anniversary, noting that the number “7” symbolizes blessing and fulfillment. He credited the university’s growth to God’s guidance and grace, emphasizing wise stewardship despite limited resources. He also thanked alumni for their generous support of digital education, and noted that three alumni named halls after family members, representing the continuation of love, faith, and CYCU’s spirit of service.
President Ying-Ming Lee stated that CYCU is advancing digital, quantum, and AI transformation under the Board’s leadership, guided by its Holistic Education philosophy. The university has founded new colleges and research centers and established a Digital Education Development Office to build a human-centered smart campus. He thanked the board and alumni for their support, which drives CYCU toward its goal of becoming a global leader in digital and lifelong learning.
Since its founding, Chung Yuan Christian University has upheld the spirit of “Using wisdom to apply technology and humanities for the benefit of humanity” and has actively built a digital learning environment. During the ceremony, three alumni donated and named three halls, recognizing their dedication and contribution to education, making it a meaningful highlight of CYCU’s anniversary celebration.
Alumnus Chien-Nan Lin (Department of Chemistry, Class of 55) donated the “De Fa Yuan” SNG Video Classroom, named in honor of his father-in-law to signify virtue and benevolence. He expressed that giving back during CYCU’s 70th anniversary was especially meaningful and attended the ceremony with his family to celebrate this legacy.
Alumnus Kuo-Chung Leng (Department of Mechanical Engineering, Class of 65) donated the “You Song Jian” Professional Digital Recording Studio, named in memory of his mother to symbolize enduring grace and family virtue. Attending the ceremony with his wife, he reflected on CYCU’s early years, noting that the university valued faith and personal growth as much as knowledge. He encouraged students to cherish their education and give back to their alma mater, carrying forward the spirit of CYCU.
Alumnus Hsien-Heng Chen (Department of Chemical Engineering, Class of 61) donated the “Hsien-Heng Studio” for professional teaching and photography. The name “Hsien-Heng,” from the Book of Changes, signifies virtue, harmony, and farsightedness. Although unable to attend, he was represented by Board Member Wan-Li Cheng and his wife, who conveyed Chen’s deep affection for CYCU and his belief in giving back to one’s roots. Chen hopes the studio will become a creative stage for students and faculty to express their ideas and dreams.
During the ceremony, CYCU expressed special appreciation to Chairman Yen-Sheng Hsieh (Department of Industrial Engineering, Class of 61) for his long-term support of the Digital Education Fund. Over the years, he has donated nearly NT$70 million to advance campus infrastructure and student aid programs, including NT$30 million dedicated to digital education development, greatly contributing to CYCU’s mission of Holistic Education and the creation of a smart learning environment.
CYCU noted that the opening of “De Fa Yuan,” “You Song Jian,” and “Hsien-Heng Studio” reflects alumni’s deep affection and gratitude while marking a new milestone in digital education. The university will continue to merge technology with education, fostering digitally skilled and compassionate learners, and developing the Digital Education Development Base into a hub for innovation and knowledge sharing that upholds the CYCU spirit.
