The 70th Anniversary and Alumni Day of CYCU was grandly held on October 18, 2025, with the opening ceremony at 10 a.m. witnessed by alumni from all generations, faculty, students, and distinguished guests.
This year’s celebration, themed “CYCU 70: Advancing Toward Sustainability,” featured a diverse program spanning academic and cultural events—from international forums and interdisciplinary lectures to alumni homecoming activities, campus concerts, and art exhibitions. The celebration fully showcased CYCU’s unique commitment to integrating technology and the humanities, marking the beginning of a new decade of global vision and local impact.
President Ying-Ming Lee emphasized that under the theme “CYCU 70: Advancing Toward Sustainability,” the university shows gratitude for its past and commitment to the future. In response to demographic and educational challenges, CYCU is promoting digital, quantum, and AI transformations to become a Holistic Green AI Quantum University—a faith-driven, inspiring, and socially responsible model for sustainable development.
Chairman Kwang-Cheng Chang stated that CYCU has progressed under God’s guidance since its founding, continually advancing over 70 years despite limited resources through the dedication of faculty, staff, and alumni. Looking ahead, the university will uphold its Holistic Education philosophy, promote innovative and interdisciplinary sustainability, and cultivate talents with global vision and professional excellence, enabling CYCU to stand firm in Taiwan and expand onto the international stage.
Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan praised CYCU for maintaining a 100% freshman enrollment rate despite demographic challenges, showing strong public recognition. He commended CYCU’s Holistic Education for emphasizing both academics and character, and encouraged the university to continue contributing to Taoyuan and Taiwan, extending its influence for generations to come.
During the ceremony, CYCU presented the Outstanding Alumni Awards to nine distinguished graduates for their professional achievements and contributions. The honorees include: Kuan-Hung Liu (Biomedical Engineering), Ta-Li Chuang (Mechanical Engineering), Hui-Chih Kou (Accounting), Hsin-Ying Lee (Information Management), An-Tang Lee (Chemistry), Hung-Meng Cheng (Electronics), Ning-Kuo Wang (Chemical Engineering), Kun-Hsueh Hsieh (Interior Design), and Mei-Yuan Chang (Industrial Engineering).
The ceremony also presented the Ministry of Education’s “Contributions to Education Award”, with Crystal Awards given to donors contributing over NT$10 million. Honorees include Shih-Ying Industrial Co., Ltd. / Chairman Chiu Chiu-Lin, Diing Hua Wedding & Event Integration Co., Ltd. / Chief Learning Officer Lin Chi-Kuo, Zhen Ding Education Foundation / Chairman Shen Ching-Fang, and Pu-Yu Investment Co., Ltd. / Chairman Hsieh Yen-Sheng.
The event’s highlight, the “Ten Thousand Alumni Homecoming Lucky Draw,” sponsored by MSI, featured 70 prizes worth about NT$550,000, including two gaming laptops valued over NT$50,000 each. The exciting giveaway encouraged alumni to return and reconnect, with the university aiming for a record-breaking attendance surpassing ten thousand participants.
Founded with just four departments—Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Civil Engineering—Chung Yuan Christian University has grown into a comprehensive institution with nine colleges, over 16,000 students, and more than 150,000 alumni, earning wide recognition. Over the past 70 years, CYCU has advanced Holistic Education through teaching innovation, research development, industry collaboration, sustainability, and global engagement. Looking ahead, the university will continue working with alumni and industry partners worldwide to cultivate professionally skilled and socially conscious talents, guiding the next generation with a vision of sustainability and global impact.
