CYCU E.E. Alumnae Forum Inspires Students with New Career Perspectives.

To help students understand industry trends and plan their future careers, the Department of Electrical Engineering at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) held the “Empowering Women in Technology — Alumnae Career Forum” on the afternoon of October 18, 2025, during the university’s Anniversary and Alumni Day celebration.

Six distinguished female alumni were invited back to share their experiences and insights in an open and engaging dialogue with current students. The event created a lively and inspiring atmosphere, drawing nearly a hundred senior students and many juniors and sophomores — with the lecture hall filled to capacity.

The six invited alumnae were Chiu Chun-Ning of Danfoss Acoustics Technology (Denmark), Chien Chung-Wen of Wistron Corporation, Wu Yu-Chen of Foxconn Industrial Internet, Chen Yi-Yu of Luxshare Precision Industry, Cho Han-Ying of Garmin (U.S.), and Dr. Su Mei-Ju, now serving as Chair of CYCU’s Department of Biomedical Engineering.

Drawing on their diverse experiences in international and technology industries, they shared with current students their journeys from university life to professional careers, highlighting the resilience and breakthroughs of women in the technology field.

The forum took place in a relaxed conversational format, where alumnae took turns sharing their academic experiences and current career paths, followed by an interactive Q&A session with the students.

Questions from students mainly focused on graduate school choices and career development, such as how to select a research field or advisor, how to present one’s strengths in interviews, and how to find one’s position in the technology industry.

The speakers responded with sincere reflections from their own experiences, encouraging students to “explore bravely and move forward with confidence,” and reminding them that “it is through challenges that one creates their own stage.”

Several alumnae who had graduated years ago also returned to campus to join the event, sharing firsthand experiences from their current roles in various industries.

From product development and project management to international collaboration, they illustrated the rapid changes and challenges of the technology sector through real-world examples, emphasizing that “an electrical engineering background is not only a foundation in technical expertise, but also a platform for cross-disciplinary innovation.”

Prof. Lai Yu-Kun, Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering, remarked that this year marks CYCU’s 70th anniversary—a meaningful milestone for both reflection and renewal. He noted that the forum not only showcased the professional strength of CYCU’s female E.E. alumni in the tech industry, but also provided valuable inspiration for current students.

“This event broke away from the traditional lecture format,” he said. “It offered students a genuine and direct way to engage with industry insights and career experiences, achieving the true purpose of the forum with great success.”

The forum concluded with a group photo of faculty, alumni, and students, symbolizing CYCU Electrical Engineering Department’s continued commitment to holistic education—encouraging students to combine professional competence with social awareness, and to grow into a new generation of tech professionals who embody both intellect and empathy.
