CYCU achieved a significant rise in the 2026 QS World University Rankings: Sustainability, moving from 834th to 688th globally and from 21st to 16th in Taiwan. Excluding medical universities, CYCU is now the top-ranked private comprehensive university in Taiwan, demonstrating strong international recognition for its sustainability efforts.
The 2026 QS Sustainability Rankings evaluate institutions across three major dimensions—Environmental Impact, Social Impact, and Governance—using nine indicators that measure environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and institutional transparency.

CYCU showed notable progress in Environmental Education, Environmental Sustainability, Employability & Opportunities, Equality, and Health & Well-being. Its performance in Environmental Sustainability stands out, ranking 10th nationwide, marking a major highlight this year. These results reflect the university’s long-term achievements in holistic education and USR (University Social Responsibility), as well as its effective implementation of green campus development, net-zero transition, and sustainable governance.

Sustainability is deeply embedded in CYCU’s institutional development roadmap. The university integrates sustainability topics into general education and interdisciplinary programs, while USR initiatives encourage students to engage with communities on climate change, ecological conservation, and resource circulation. CYCU also promotes energy management, greenhouse gas inventories, annual sustainability reporting, campus energy-saving upgrades, green space conservation, stormwater retention systems, and solar installations—building an ecologically friendly and low-carbon campus.

President Ying-Ming Lee emphasized that CYCU’s founding vision of Holistic Education—character, professionalism, and service—naturally aligns with sustainability. In recent years, CYCU has strategically incorporated sustainability into curriculum design, campus planning, social engagement, and governance structures, aligning with the UN SDGs and Taiwan’s 2050 Net-Zero goals. CYCU will continue strengthening sustainable governance, deepening environmental education, advancing the net-zero transition, and expanding impact through industry collaboration and social engagement.
