CYCU Expands Overseas Internship Opportunities to Strengthen Global Career Readiness.

In response to the rapid growth of AI and the increasing globalization of the workplace, the College of Humanities and Education at Chung Yuan Christian University hosted an “Overseas Internship Information Session” on May 12, 2026, introducing internship partnership resources in Japan. The initiative aims to connect overseas teaching opportunities, industry internships, and international career pathways for students.

Centered on the themes of “overseas internships, cross-cultural workplaces, and international career development,” the event seeks to provide students with diverse global internship opportunities, helping them gain early exposure to international workplaces while enhancing their cross-cultural communication skills and global mobility.

The Japan internship program highlighted at the session reflects the rising demand for international talent in Asia. With growing workforce needs in Japan, Taiwanese students with language proficiency and cross-cultural communication skills are increasingly valued. Since 2019, the program has provided students with cross-cultural workplace experience and international career development opportunities through official internship visa arrangements that ensure internship quality and student protection.

CYCU has continued to strengthen its internationalization and practice-oriented education by expanding overseas learning and cross-cultural training opportunities for students. The Department of Applied Chinese Language and Literature has long promoted overseas Chinese language teaching internships and has consistently received support from Taiwan’s Ministry of Education Study Abroad Program. Students have been selected to teach Chinese in countries including Sweden, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the United States, and Germany.

In summer 2025, 12 students participated in overseas Chinese language teaching internships, demonstrating the University’s achievements in Chinese language teacher training and international teaching practice. In April 2026, the department also signed a memorandum of understanding with a leading university in South Korea, further expanding its international collaboration network through resources provided by the TaiwanICDF.

The Department of Applied Foreign Languages at CYCU has also continued to expand overseas internships and cross-cultural learning opportunities. In summer 2025, nine students joined a German language and culture program at the Graz International Musicians and German College in Germany and Austria, strengthening their language skills and global perspectives through immersive learning and cultural exchange. In addition, five students participated in internships in Canada in fields including business, marketing, translation, and English teaching, gaining practical experience in international workplace communication within English-speaking environments.

Beyond Europe and North America, the department has also collaborated with the Department of Applied Chinese Language and Literature on international teaching internship programs in Thailand, the United States, and Germany. This interdisciplinary partnership enables students to develop teaching, language, and cross-cultural collaboration skills while preparing for careers in international education and global workplaces.

Dean Peng Nisi of the College of Humanities and Education at Chung Yuan Christian University emphasized that overseas internships are not simply short-term study abroad experiences, but comprehensive training that integrates professional skills, cultural understanding, and global career development. The Japan internship information session represents an important step in promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and international learning.

Facing the challenges of global higher education competition and AI-driven workforce transformation, the University aims to strengthen students’ practical international competencies through overseas internships and real-world cross-cultural experiences. Moving forward, CYCU will continue to expand global learning opportunities centered on humanities, language expertise, international engagement, and career development, cultivating future talents with global professional impact.
