To broaden students’ global perspectives and leadership capabilities, the College of Business at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), together with the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Chung Yuan Chapter, hosted the “10th BGS Chung Yuan Chapter Distinguished Business Leader Lecture” on May 20 at the Jin Rong Business Auditorium. Distinguished CYCU alumnus, IQS Wood Sdn Bhd Chairman, and BGS honorary member Mr. Peng Choong Leng returned to campus to deliver a keynote speech titled “Excellence and Responsibility: From Campus to the Global Stage.” The event attracted more than 250 faculty members and students.
Chairman Peng of IQS Wood Sdn Bhd was recently honored by the BGS Global Headquarters with both the “Business Achievement Award” and the “Entrepreneurial Achievement Award,” becoming the only recipient in BGS’s 100-year history to receive both honors. During the opening ceremony, Dean Ming-Lei Chang of the CYCU College of Business presented the award plaques on behalf of the BGS Headquarters in the United States, while introducing BGS as the premier global business honor society under the AACSB accreditation framework.

By inviting a distinguished alumnus and recipient of two international awards to return and share his experiences, the event helped students better understand global business trends and reflect on the importance of professional competence, corporate responsibility, and global perspectives.
In his speech, Chairman Peng Choong Leng of IQS Wood Sdn Bhd noted that amid rapid global industrial changes and growing international competition, employers now value not only professional knowledge, but also cross-cultural communication, problem-solving skills, and global mobility. Drawing from his own experience, he encouraged students to continuously build professional competence and entrepreneurial capability to strengthen their global competitiveness.
Following the lecture, the BGS Chung Yuan Chapter organized an exclusive networking session for BGS student and alumni members to engage with Chairman Peng Choong Leng. He shared insights on international career development and entrepreneurship, encouraging students to pursue global opportunities, continue learning, and strengthen their adaptability and global perspective.
The CYCU College of Business noted that the event highlighted the College’s connection with global business education through AACSB accreditation and the BGS honor system. Through alumni sharing and intergenerational exchange, the event also strengthened students’ understanding of sustainability, global business trends, and social responsibility, reflecting CYCU’s commitment to holistic education and the cultivation of internationally minded business professionals.
