CYCU Product Design Students Collaborate with China Motor Corporation to Showcase AI-Driven and Sustainable Design Solutions.

The Product Design Division of CYCU’s Department of Commercial Design has continued its collaboration with China Motor Corporation, integrating industry experience, AI-assisted design, and ESG sustainability concepts into students’ graduation projects. Through real-world design challenges, students developed innovative solutions ranging from smart mobility services to interactive healthcare devices, demonstrating their ability to translate creative ideas into practical applications.

Since launching the partnership in 2020, CYCU and China Motor Corporation have worked together to connect design education with industry practice through mentorship and internship opportunities. Focusing on AI empowerment and sustainable design, the collaboration enables students to refine their projects through industry feedback while developing solutions with both practical value and social impact.

One of the standout projects, “CUBE-SQUAD,” addresses the challenges of crowd management, real-time guidance, and emergency response in large public venues. The student team developed a modular smart mobility service system featuring three collaborative robots—I-LINK for information and navigation, S-BOT for safety and emergency response, and L-BOX for logistical support. Designed for flexible deployment at concerts, exhibitions, and other large-scale events, the system enhances operational efficiency and safety management while offering a forward-looking vision of intelligent mobility services.

Another featured project, “Heartbeat Companion Program,” focuses on improving the healthcare experience of children with congenital heart disease. Recognizing the fear and anxiety often associated with frequent treatments, blood draws, and rehabilitation, the student team combined precision blood-draw positioning technology with interactive storytelling and gameplay to transform stressful medical procedures into more engaging and supportive experiences. By addressing both the emotional needs of young patients and the practical needs of healthcare providers, the project highlights the potential of product design to bring empathy, innovation, and value to healthcare environments.

China Motor Corporation highly praised the quality and maturity of the projects developed by CYCU Product Design students, particularly their effective use of AI-assisted design tools and practical problem-solving approach. The company highlighted “CUBE-SQUAD” for its modular robotic service concept, noting its strong alignment with future smart mobility and sustainable transportation trends, as well as its potential applications in smart logistics, micro-mobility, and last-mile delivery solutions.

Participating students noted that guidance from both China Motor Corporation’s design professionals and CYCU faculty helped them realize that successful design extends beyond aesthetics to balancing user needs, technical feasibility, cost, and real-world constraints. The collaboration encouraged a more practical approach to design, emphasizing problem-solving and user-centered thinking. The projects were showcased at the 2026 Young Designers’ Exhibition, attracting attention from industry professionals and the design community. CYCU’s Product Design Division will continue to strengthen industry partnerships to cultivate designers equipped with creativity, practical skills, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
