CYCU Alumni Donate NT$20 Million to Establish AI Innovation Computer Lab in Partnership with MSI.

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape industries and accelerate digital transformation, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) is strengthening its commitment to AI education and next-generation learning environments. Through a fundraising initiative led by the CYCU Distinguished Alumni Association, more than 50 distinguished alumni from Taiwan and overseas came together within just two months to contribute over NT$20 million in support of the University’s new AI Innovation Computer Lab.

Developed in partnership with MSI, a global leader in AI PCs and gaming technology, the project will equip the new facility with high-performance computing systems and industry-grade technologies. Designed to integrate advanced computing capabilities with hands-on learning, the AI Innovation Computer Lab will provide students with an innovative learning environment that bridges academic study and real-world applications, further strengthening CYCU’s efforts to cultivate future AI talent.

The fundraising initiative was coordinated by the Office of Alumni Services and Resource Development, bringing together alumni support and strategic fundraising efforts to advance CYCU’s AI education initiatives. Led by Distinguished Alumni Association President Lai Erh-Hsin, together with alumnus Hsieh Yen-Sheng, more than 50 distinguished alumni from Taiwan and abroad united in support of the University’s digital transformation and talent development.

At the donation ceremony, Board Chair Chang Kuang-Cheng and President Ying-Ming Lee received the collective donation on behalf of the University, with President Lai presenting the contribution on behalf of all participating alumni.

Supported by the generous contributions of its distinguished alumni, CYCU is partnering with MSI, a global leader in AI PCs, to establish a new AI Innovation Computer Lab in the University’s Chen-Chih Teaching Building. Equipped with industry-grade AI computing systems powered by the latest technologies from MSI, Intel, and NVIDIA, the facility will support a wide range of applications, including large language models (LLMs), generative AI, deep learning, data analytics, computer vision, and digital content creation.

Designed to mirror real-world industry environments, the new lab will provide students with hands-on experience in AI model development and high-performance computing, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and preparing graduates with the practical skills needed for the AI era.

Board Chair Kuang-Cheng Chang emphasized that as AI continues to transform industries worldwide, higher education must remain at the forefront of technological advancement. Guided by its commitment to holistic education, CYCU not only pursues academic excellence but also equips students with the practical skills needed for the future. He expressed his gratitude to the University’s distinguished alumni for their generous support, noting that their collective contribution reflects a strong commitment to their alma mater and will play a vital role in advancing AI education at CYCU.

President Ying-Ming Lee described the AI Innovation Computer Lab as more than a new teaching facility—it represents a significant milestone in CYCU’s digital transformation. He noted that the collaboration between alumni and industry partners provides a strong foundation for expanding industry-academia partnerships and cultivating AI talent. By integrating the new facility into coursework, interdisciplinary projects, research, and collaborative programs with industry, CYCU will enable students to develop hands-on experience with emerging AI technologies while meeting the evolving needs of the workforce.

As CYCU prepares to celebrate its 71st anniversary in October 2026, the University will officially inaugurate the new AI Innovation Computer Lab. More than a state-of-the-art learning facility, the lab stands as a testament to the enduring support of CYCU alumni and the University’s strong partnerships with industry. By bringing together alumni engagement, corporate collaboration, and advanced AI education, CYCU continues to strengthen industry-academia connections and prepare the next generation of talent for the AI-driven future.
