To strengthen collaboration and international exchange among Christian higher education institutions across Asia, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) hosted the 2026 Executive Committee Meeting of the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia (ACUCA) on July 28–29, 2026.
Currently serving as the ACUCA Presidency and Secretariat, CYCU welcomed delegates to the meeting, which was jointly chaired by ACUCA President and CYCU President Lee Ying-Ming, Acting President and CYCU Chaplain Rev. Ou Li-Jen, and ACUCA Secretary General Dr. Cole N. Carnesecca. Presidents, vice presidents, and international affairs administrators from eight member universities across seven countries and regions—including Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, India, Thailand, and the Philippines—gathered at CYCU for the meeting.
During the meeting, delegates engaged in in-depth discussions on key initiatives, including student and faculty exchanges, the Micro Degree Program, the 2027 Management Conference and General Assembly, and activities commemorating ACUCA’s 50th anniversary. They also explored future priorities and opportunities for collaboration across the association.
The meeting not only highlighted CYCU’s continued efforts to advance international engagement, but also underscored its leadership and commitment as the ACUCA Presidency and Secretariat in strengthening collaboration among Christian higher education institutions across Asia.
The Executive Committee Meeting brought together leaders from Christian universities across Asia, including Dr. G. Sri Nurhartanto, President of Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University, Indonesia; Dr. Yun Seon Kim, representative of Handong Global University, South Korea; Dr. Beulah Jeyashree, Principal of Lady Doak College, India; Dr. Eiko Kato-Otani, President of Osaka Jogakuin University, Japan; Dr. Apicha Insuwan, President of Payap University, Thailand; Dr. Howell Ho, Vice President of Trinity University of Asia, the Philippines; and Dr. Jack Sze Yeung Yu, representative of Hong Kong Baptist University.
Delegates reviewed the progress of key ACUCA initiatives for 2026, including the Faculty Mobility Scheme (FMS), Micro Degree Program (MDP), and Student Camp. They also exchanged perspectives on student learning outcomes, inter-university collaboration, institutional enhancement, and digital transformation, reflecting a shared commitment among member universities to advancing educational innovation and resource sharing across the ACUCA network.
CYCU President Lee Ying-Ming expressed the University’s honor in serving as the ACUCA Presidency and Secretariat. He noted that the Executive Committee Meeting provided an important opportunity to deepen collaboration among member universities, address the rapidly evolving challenges facing higher education, and jointly cultivate future leaders equipped with professional expertise, global perspectives, and a strong sense of social responsibility grounded in Christian values.
During their stay, delegates also toured the CYCU campus and visited the historic Dadaocheng district in Taipei, where they experienced Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage and local character. CYCU Vice President Wu Tsung-Yuan, together with University administrators, welcomed the international delegates at a networking dinner, further strengthening交流 and partnerships among ACUCA member institutions.
Looking ahead, CYCU will continue to leverage the ACUCA platform to advance student mobility, faculty collaboration, inter-university courses, and academic research, while strengthening partnerships among member institutions across Asia. With preparations underway for the 2026 ACUCA Student Camp and the 2027 Management Conference and General Assembly, CYCU remains committed to expanding the ACUCA network and working alongside its partner institutions to enhance the international impact of Christian higher education in Asia.
