Led by Dean Penney Hsiao, the CYCU delegation engaged in discussions on language instruction, curriculum development, student internships, and international mobility, laying the groundwork for closer institutional ties.

The academic exchange focused on foreign language and literature education in Taiwan and South Korea, with particular attention to French language programs, curriculum design, and practical training opportunities. Faculty members shared insights into their respective educational approaches and strategies for developing students’ linguistic proficiency, professional skills, and intercultural competencies. The discussions also provided an opportunity to identify common interests and potential areas for future academic collaboration.

During their visit, the SNU delegation toured CYCU’s College of Science and Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library, gaining firsthand insight into the University’s teaching facilities, learning environment, and resources for independent study. The campus visits offered a broader perspective on CYCU’s educational philosophy and commitment to supporting diverse student learning experiences.

CYCU’s Department of Applied Foreign Languages emphasizes multilingual proficiency and global perspectives through a curriculum that includes compulsory second foreign language courses, with French among the available study options. Students are also encouraged to participate in international exchange programs and overseas internships to strengthen their language skills and gain practical experience in multicultural environments. The visit from SNU’s Department of French Language and Literature created further opportunities for dialogue on French language teaching, curriculum development, and the preparation of globally competent graduates.

According to CYCU’s College of Humanities and Education, the exchange deepened mutual understanding of both institutions’ educational strengths, academic programs, and approaches to talent development. Representatives also explored the possibility of establishing a formal institutional partnership and expanding student exchange opportunities.
