Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) has achieved a new milestone in academic excellence, with 31 professors named among the World’s Top 2% Scientists in 2026, according to the latest rankings released by a research team at Stanford University. The total represents an increase of two professors from the previous year and marks a record high for the University.
The recognized scholars represent a diverse range of research fields, including artificial intelligence, electronic engineering, operations research, energy, chemical engineering, materials science, nanoscience, and business management. Their achievements reflect CYCU’s sustained commitment to research excellence, interdisciplinary innovation, and growing international academic influence.
According to CYCU’s Office of Research and Development, the World’s Top 2% Scientists rankings are based on data from Scopus, one of the world’s largest abstract and citation databases, covering more than 11 million scientists worldwide.
The rankings assess research impact using six citation-based indicators, including total citations, the h-index, the co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, and citation measures reflecting researchers’ contributions as single, first, or last authors. Together, these indicators provide a comprehensive assessment of scholarly influence across research disciplines.
In the 2026 rankings, 28 CYCU scholars were recognized in the Career-Long Scientific Impact Rankings (1960–2025), while 16 appeared in the 2025 Annual Scientific Impact Rankings. With some scholars appearing on both lists, a total of 31 distinct CYCU professors received recognition.
