Chung Yuan Christian University launches a new semester, concurrently announcing the publication of the “Graduate Employability and Relevance Accountability Report” and the “Career Development Accountability Report for International Students,” pioneering among higher education institutions in Taiwan! The university, caring deeply for the holistic development of its students, takes proactive measures to establish a support mechanism. Through precise surveys and data analysis, it enhances the educational vision and counseling measures across various departments, empowering students to explore their academic journey and lay the groundwork for their career development.
Setting a precedent among Taiwanese universities, Chung Yuan Christian University has published the “Career Development Accountability Report for Graduates” for three consecutive years since the academic year 110, tracking the employment and career development status of its alumni. Furthermore, in order to gain deeper insights into the integrated learning and application journey of graduates and current students, the university has, for the first time in the academic year 112, published the “Graduate Employability and Relevance Accountability Report” and the “Career Development Accountability Report for International Students,” providing valuable references for teaching design and curriculum enhancement across various administrative and academic units within the university.
According to the results from the University Career Assistance Network (UCAN) survey, the report highlights that in the academic year 112 at Chung Yuan Christian University, only 4% of freshmen had a mismatch between their occupational interests and their chosen majors, including 2 international students and 97 domestic students. In response, the university provides proactive career counseling with the goal of “assisting in adaptive development” and “enhancing academic stability,” guiding students to access career resources.
Furthermore, in the academic year 112, compared to their freshman year, domestic students in their third year at Chung Yuan Christian University showed positive growth in all eight common competencies. Among them, the most significant improvement was observed in “application of information technology,” reflecting the university’s efforts in recent years to develop digital tools and courses related to artificial intelligence to keep up with contemporary trends. On the other hand, international students’ competency levels were slightly below the university average in all eight areas. Therefore, the university also organizes workplace competency workshops specifically for international students to help them enhance their workplace skills.
