To promote the creative industry and cultural development in the Taoyuan region, the 2023 “Taoyuan Design Award,” organized by the Youth Affairs Bureau of the Taoyuan City Government, held its award ceremony on November 19, 112. Associate Professor Huang Wenzong from the Department of Business Design at CYCU guided second-year graduate student Hu Yuxuan, whose work titled “Personal Experience Set for Dabeikeng Pounding Tea,” received the Silver Award in the “Taoyuan Souvenir Gift Box and Bag Category.”
This is a high commendation for the Department of Business Design at CYCU in terms of design creativity and practicality. The bag design draws inspiration from the tea-pounding activities in the Dabeikeng Leisure Agricultural Area, combining elements of tea, agricultural experiences, and Hakka culture to showcase the unique leisure agriculture style of Taoyuan. Furthermore, the design highlights the distinctive features of Dabeikeng. The main images represent Dabeikeng’s famous “Lu Bing Hua” (camphor plum blossom), “Jiang Family Ancient House,” and “Golden Uncle Cicada,” presented in calligraphic fonts and seal illustrations. Supplementary graphics include related tools for Lu Bing Hua and tea pounding.
