Chung Yuan Christian University held its 111th academic year graduation ceremony on June 3rd at 3:00 PM. After more than three years of the pandemic, the physical graduation ceremony was finally held, bringing great excitement to the graduates and their families. The campus was filled with joy and celebration. President Li Yingming of Chung Yuan Christian University emphasized that we are now in the digital era, with rapidly evolving technologies related to digitalization. He urged the students to further their own digital transformation after graduation and to use digital technology wisely for the benefit of society. They are encouraged to become an important force for changing the world.
The 65th graduation ceremony of Chung Yuan Christian University took place in the grand auditorium of Zhongzheng Hall. President Li Yingming stated that Chung Yuan Christian University upholds the concept of “holistic education,” which not only focuses on cultivating students’ professional knowledge but also emphasizes their interdisciplinary and liberal arts education. This approach equips students with critical abilities to solve future problems and provides them with the wisdom to face the challenges ahead. President Li Yingming expressed his belief that Chung Yuan graduates embody the concept of “holistic education” and possess the well-rounded qualities of future-oriented talents. They have the capability to change the world and make it a better place.
Mayor Chang Shan-cheng of Taoyuan City, in his speech at the ceremony, congratulated the graduates on their excellent academic achievements at Chung Yuan Christian University, which is regarded as “Taoyuan’s pride.” He acknowledged the capabilities and holistic education training provided by the university and expressed his belief that the graduates would have a bright future ahead. Mayor Chang encouraged the graduates not to give up on opportunities that allow them to face more challenges and gain more experiences. He also advised them not to be content with small achievements but to courageously embrace bigger challenges. He wished all the Chung Yuan graduates success in their endeavors, urging them to soar high like eagles with their holistic development.
This year’s graduation ceremony invited Professor Dai Hailong, a distinguished professor in the Department of Chemistry at Temple University in the United States, to be the keynote speaker. Professor Dai Hailong previously served as the Vice President of Temple University and is currently an adjunct professor in the Department of Chemistry at Chung Yuan Christian University. He played a crucial role in establishing the “Bachelor’s Degree Program in Business Administration” between Chung Yuan Christian University and Temple University, making Chung Yuan the first university in Taiwan to collaborate with Temple in promoting a 2+2 dual-degree program. Professor Dai Hailong encouraged the graduates not to be afraid to take the first step. As long as they find the right direction, prepare well, work hard, persevere, and unleash their imagination and creativity, they will undoubtedly achieve success in the future.
