The 2024 National College Interior Design Competition (TSID Student Award), organized by the Taiwan Society of Interior Designers (TSID), centered on the theme “New Residential Era – Residential Sales Center Design,” encouraging students to think about and implement design concepts aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) Interior Design juniors Lin Zheng-Hong and Zhang Guang-Geng won the only Grand Prize with their project “Serene Edge,” achieving remarkable success. Notably, the CYCU Department of Interior Design not only secured the Grand Prize but also garnered 22 awards, including bronze, honorable mentions, and merits, showcasing the exceptional design skills of its students.
Zhu Qi-Ming, who teaches the junior-year interior design course, expressed gratitude to the judges for their appreciation of the creativity and daring spirit of CYCU students. He specifically praised Lin Zheng-Hong and Zhang Guang-Geng, who introduced their project with a “design trailer” that employed engaging storytelling and sound effects, successfully capturing the audience’s curiosity and interest, thus deepening their impression and recognition of the work. Instructor Hou Ping-Ting noted that these two students invested significant effort in repeated discussions and revisions to present their unique creativity and design concepts. Their relentless pursuit of innovation and practical experience ultimately led to winning the sole Grand Prize, making the instructors feel both gratified and proud of their students’ achievements.
Additionally, the “Golden Pin New Talent Design Award,” co-guided by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Education, is the largest national exhibition of design graduates’ works. Two groups of students from Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) received this prestigious honor, further demonstrating the university’s commitment to integrating learning with practical application. CYCU’s emphasis on cultivating students’ abilities across various fields, enabling them to fully showcase their talents, has been clearly validated by these achievements.
The 2024 Golden Pin New Talent Design Award, organized by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, is a significant platform for design students to showcase their talents. This year, 55 colleges and universities, 116 departments, and 4,974 entries competed, with outstanding works ultimately selected.
