Lisa Su encouraged Chung Yuan Christian University students to “love themselves and become better versions of themselves.” She highlighted that the young students possess the advantage of youth and limitless possibilities. She emphasized that if they love themselves and strive to improve, good things will come their way. According to her, people who love themselves do five things: practice self-discipline, continuously learn, engage in self-exploration, take responsibility for themselves, and pursue their passions with enthusiasm. She shared that during her time in the first cohort of Chung Yuan’s Business Administration graduate program, she was influenced by her professors and decided early on to pursue a career in marketing. Lisa Su expressed her fortune in working at NVIDIA, whose core values align with hers, including innovation, teamwork, integrity, speed and agility, and the pursuit of excellence. She believes these are the values and beliefs that graduates should carry into their careers.
Chung Yuan Christian University President Ying-Ming Li stated at the ceremony that the university was founded with the Christian love for the world and adheres to the philosophy of holistic education. This approach aims to equip students not only with professional knowledge but also with liberal arts and interdisciplinary skills. He emphasized that with these liberal arts and interdisciplinary foundations, students can continually transform their specialized knowledge into the ability to solve future problems. He hopes Chung Yuan graduates can become well-rounded talents with a future-oriented, “slasher” π-shaped development. President Li pointed out that in the face of rapidly evolving technology, graduates should constantly engage, learn, understand, and reflect on these advancements, using technology as tools to embrace and change the world without being dominated or resisting it.
