The university admission results for the 113th academic year were announced on the 15th, with Chung Yuan Christian University once again achieving a perfect 100% enrollment rate, continuing its record of “zero vacancies.” According to the University Entrance Committee for Admissions, there were 2,505 unfilled spots nationwide, with 31 universities experiencing vacancies. However, Chung Yuan Christian University successfully filled all 655 spots allocated through the distribution admission process, out of a total of 3,082 spots across all undergraduate admission channels, achieving its goal of full enrollment.
Chung Yuan Christian University is dedicated to educational development and has consistently received recognition and substantial funding from the Ministry of Education. In the 113th year of the “Higher Education Sprout Project,” the university was awarded NT$152 million, making it the highest-funded private comprehensive university in the nation. Notably, Chung Yuan is the fourth AI University in Taiwan to partner with NVIDIA, following NTU, NTHU, and NYCU. Additionally, the university collaborates with Applied Materials Taiwan to offer semiconductor equipment courses, and with TSMC for specialized programs. It has also partnered with several domestic semiconductor companies for industry-academia collaboration and joint laboratory projects. This year, Chung Yuan was approved by the Ministry of Education to establish the first “Semiconductor Industry Academy” at a private comprehensive university, underscoring its leading position in industry-focused education.
In terms of teaching innovation, Chung Yuan Christian University pioneered the “Student Learning Outcome Quality Assurance Report” and the “AI Teaching and Learning Accountability Report,” fully implementing the PDCA cycle to enhance teaching quality and student learning outcomes. The university also issued the “Graduate Employment and Relevance Accountability Report” and the “International Student Career Development Accountability Report,” strengthening the mechanisms for student career guidance and development. Additionally, through various collaborations, the university successfully developed a digital annealing algorithm and, with the support of the Yu Hsiu Educational Foundation, boasts the most comprehensive quantum computing facilities in Taiwan. This initiative has a profound impact on cultivating quantum technology talent and advancing education in this field.
Furthermore, in response to the recent societal focus on the “emphasis on science and engineering over humanities,” Chung Yuan Christian University leverages its strengths in science and engineering to actively promote humanities education, aiming to “create a platform for the integration of Human Intelligence (HI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).” Specific measures include: establishing the first university-level “AI Education and Academic Ethics Steering Committee” in Taiwan, bringing together the expertise of scholars both within and outside the university to coordinate the collaborative development of HI and AI; and setting up the “AI Ethics and Global Governance Academy” within the General Education Center, which boasts the highest general education credit requirement of 34 credits in the nation, to focus on the ethical and governance issues arising from AI. Additionally, the College of Humanities and Education is innovating its curriculum to align with AI developments, fully promoting the “Humanities + AI” concept to achieve AI empowerment, interdisciplinary integration, and a STEAM education that blends science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics with the humanities. Through these initiatives, Chung Yuan Christian University aims to contribute to balancing the current societal and educational trend that favors science and engineering over the humanities.
At the same time, Chung Yuan Christian University is committed to providing a diverse international learning environment and actively advancing international cooperation. The university has signed dual-degree programs with 24 universities in Europe, America, and Asia, offering students more opportunities for international exposure. The university has also received funding from the Ministry of Education to promote bilingual education, with a yearly increase in courses taught entirely in English (EMI) to enhance students’ English proficiency and global perspective.
