The event also welcomed three distinguished international guests: Dr. Ashok Philip, President of the World Medical Association from Malaysia; Dr. Jung Yul Park, Chair of the World Medical Association Council from South Korea; and Dr. Otmar Kloiber, Secretary-General of the World Medical Association from Germany, who attended to witness the occasion.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare recognized the efforts and contributions of participating universities, including Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Chung Yuan Christian University, National Tsing Hua University, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, and National Cheng Kung University, in the field of sustainable development. The ministry emphasized that interdisciplinary collaboration between industry, government, academia, and research, along with inter-university cooperation, can foster resource sharing, accelerate sustainable talent development, and advance the implementation of sustainable health and carbon neutrality practices, injecting fresh momentum into the nation’s net-zero transition goals.
Chung Yuan Christian University is dedicated to promoting environmental education and advancing sustainable development, encouraging faculty and students to integrate sustainability into education and research. The university has achieved significant results in greenhouse gas inventory, sustainable certification talent cultivation, and campus tree inventory projects.
Since 2022, CYCU has conducted greenhouse gas source identification and inventory on campus, completing its second inventory report in 2023. The university is steadily progressing toward its policy goals of a 50% carbon reduction by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050. Alongside its carbon inventory efforts, CYCU remains focused on resource regeneration and sustainable ecological development.
Chung Yuan Christian University President Li Ying-Ming expressed his honor in participating in this collaborative initiative between industry, government, academia, and research to promote sustainability in the healthcare industry. He emphasized that CYCU will continue to deepen partnerships across sectors and drive a net-zero sustainable future through its three core pillars: education, research, and practice.
